Trader Joe’s, a grocery-store chain known for its individually priced bananas and often “challenging” parking lots, is planning to open at least a dozen new locations in 2025.
The company’s website currently lists 12 planned locations “opening soon” across seven states and Washington, D.C. (A representative for Trader Joe’s confirmed to Nexstar that all of those locations are expected to open in 2025.) More upcoming locations will be added to the list as they are announced “throughout the year,” according to a company spokesperson. The cities where shoppers can expect a new Trader Joe’s to open in 2025 — as well as the addresses for those stores — currently include: Hoover, Alabama — 1771 Montgomery Highway Northridge, California — 9224 Reseda Boulevard Sherman Oaks, California — 14140 Riverside Drive Tarzana, California —18700 Ventura Boulevard Washington, D.C. — 5335 Wisconsin Avenue NW Washington, D.C. —701 Monroe Street, NE Rockville, Maryland — 225 N. Washington Street Staten Island, New York — 6400 Amboy Road Berwyn, Pennsylvania — 550 Lancaster Ave Murfreesboro, Tennessee —2305 Medical Center Parkway Bellingham, Washington 4255 Meridian Street, Suite 200 Seattle, Washington — 8726 Greenwood Avenue The Trader Joe’s website did not offer additional details about projected opening dates. When selecting a location for a new store, Trader Joe’s marketing executives Tara Miller and Matt Sloan explained in a recent episode of the “Inside Trader Joe’s” podcast that the company seeks out spaces that meet specific criteria for population density, traffic patterns and parking availability, among other factors. The two also emphasized that Trader Joe’s is very deliberate about its “controlled growth,” and may even deliberately avoid moving into spaces that housed former chain grocery stores, as it wouldn’t “feel” like a Trader Joe’s. Letter-writing campaigns or petitions to bring a Trader Joe’s to a certain area will also usually fall on deaf ears, Miller and Sloan suggested. “Our decisions, they’re business decisions. We’re excited when people are excited about us, but that’s really not what’s driving the decisions about what brings a Trader Joe’s,” Miller said. For anyone wondering, there are also no plans for the foreseeable future to bring the signature Trader Joe’s banana-pricing model to Alaska or Hawaii. “And also, just for clarity sake, we’re still focused on those 48 contiguous states,” Sloan said. |

We drive monthly to Gainesville TJ’s. Have been in Aldi maybe 3 times, hate shopping out of a box, sometimes my grocery app will tell me price is better somewhere else. All three times the veggies and fruit only lasted a day.

I do so enjoy Aldi's but the award for best overall store for groceries and kind attentiveness and cleanliness and just overall good things is PUBLIX....from this girl.

But you're paying for those "overall good things". Every thing has it's place, I guess. Both Aldi and Publix are thriving in TV because different people value different things. |

Not sure TJs is a fit for you. Lots of organic, healthy foods with no additives or preservatives. Best kosher variety, and items that only speciality grocery carries. Usually younger crows that want healthier alternatives

I had aways heard of Trader Joes but had never been in one until 3 weeks ago when I was in Staten Island. I expected a Publix experience and was surprised it was more like Aldi's. I'm not putting it down, I'm just saying for all the hype it was not what I thought it was going to be.

While you're on a roll, how about a decent restaurant or 2? Perhaps a private country club? Maybe a MLB franchise?

You don’t like the food at Anglers Club?? I’ve never heard of anyone complaining about it. I mean how many private places do we need? I remember back when the private restaurant Cattleman’s Club was above Katie Belle’s. Both now closed of course.
