Default Rt. 321 from Columbia, SC to Savannah, GA?

Has anyone tried this as an alternate to I-95. Drove north on Saturday and the traffic was horrible in SC n 95. Need to find another route.

Nope. Lots of traffic lights and speed traps.

I've taken 321 from Columbia to 301 to TV & back. Even 321 from 95 because it was a mess.
Have vowed this is the only way for us. Yes, you go through some Mayberry towns, but no traffic & less stress. Just obey the limits within reason.
Yes it does take longer & you have to know where to stop, ( Parkers convenience stores are clean)
We drive from W. Pa.

I-95 has been horrid whenever I've been on there. I'd sure try the alternate and see.

We drove up north Saturday, as well. The only traffic we hit in SC, was the I-20 exit off I-95. It backed up traffic for a few miles. As soon as we passed that exit, it was clear sailing...

Struggled up North last Saturday as well. Brutal through Georgia and South Carolina to 26, then brutal to Charlotte. Layer the downpours and it was ‘fun’. Seems as soon as you find an alternate route it crashes.

I-95, I-75, I-4 etc. have all reached capacity and beyond. If you fly look for serious delays and cancellations. If retired, and most of us are, we can “pick and choose” (most of the time) what dates and times to go when traffic is the lightest. Around Holidays stay off the roads and out of the airports unless absolutely necessary. We have been traveling as a retiree for 20 years and my experience is the interstate highways or toll roads are the quickest and best way to go. But, be prepared for the worse case scenario and hope for the best. Besides, adventures can be compelling and fun if you let them. Happy trails.

What time did y'all leave? We hit the road at 6:00am and other than a small backup at I-20, it was pretty much clear until Fredericksburg, VA...

Added reason to stay off 95 / 26.
S.C. has plans to widen 26 to 3 lanes each direction & a portion of 95 at the Ga. border. I haven't seen start date , but it's a 8 yr. project!
Good luck when this starts!

Go over it by plane if you can. We have a dog so we'll have to deal with it

We travel with a dog as well, plus the airline industry seriously needs to get their act together before we will consider flying again. In the meantime, we have about a quarter million worthless Southwest points.
