Smile Poutine

Whenever we have been to Quebec I always ordered poitine which is a dish of french fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. It's wonderful if you like that kind of dish but contains many calories. However, I thought that I would never again taste poitine until we visited my son, daughter in law, and grandchildren in Atlanta. We went to a jewish delicatesion for dinner and low and behold they had poitine as an appetizer. Of course I ordered it and it was enough for a meal by itself. However, they changed the recipe a little bit by including pastrami pieces. I shared some of it with my family and they seemed to like it.

Can't wait to go back to Atlanta except for the fact that every time we come back from there we have colds, thanx grandkids.

Your Deli version of poutine sounds a lot like the Montreal Smoked Meat poutine that the wife and I had last year in Dartmouth, NS.
Yummy stuff.
Our waitress told us that there are two restaurants in Halifax dedicated to nothing but poutine. I'd like to verify that someday.

Back when we had a sailboat, we used to sail up to the North Channel between US and Canada. I had my first poutine at a little stand on the edge of a marina (Meldrum Bay) on one of the islands. Just plain cheese curds, fries, and gravy. Wonderful!

Later on, Anthony Bourdain did a No Reservations show on poutine from Quebec. There are apparently lots of variations on poutine, all of them artery clogging and all of them sound heavenly! thanks for the memory. Now I'm hungry.

When I saw the title of the thread "Poutine" submitted by "Little Dog", I thought you were sharing the route you take to walk your dog!

Next time you're at Epcot check Le Celliuer at the Canada pavillion, they have poutine... It's a lot closer than Atlanta.

It was at General Muir Deli. Can't tell you the address.
