Default Mecum Car Auction

Another thread brought to my attention the Mecum Classic Car Auction to be held in Kissimmee from Jan 18 - Jan 27. I went to there web site to check things out and boy an old car lovers dream car show. Looking around the web I could not find out anything about normal spectator tickets so I sent an e-mail to Mecum asking about tickets. Here is their reply as it may be of interest to any car buffs in TV.

========================================
Thank you for your interest in our upcoming auction.

Spectators are encouraged to attend the auctions. Typically these tickets are purchased onsite. General admission for a non-bidder is $20 per day for our Kissimmee Auction and children 12 and younger are admitted free-of-charge.

Even if you are not interested in buying anything, registering as a bidder has other benefits. The cost is a $100 and includes admission for you and a guest for the entire 10-day event, and also gains you access to the most coveted seats to view the auction. If you are interested in registering, please visit our website and click on the Bidder Info tab, or call (262) 275-5050 and ask to speak directly with our bidder department. This is a good way to save money if you plan to attend more than just one day.

This link provides more in depth information on the Kissimmee event: Mecum Auction: Kissimmee, FL Auction - Kissimmee, FL - January 18 - 27, 2013

Thank you again,
==================================

Now that really got my interest and I have to do some serious thinking about going. Let's see for $100.00 you get tickets for 2 and access to the better seats for viewing and after looking at some of the cars up for bid the true car junkie will want to take in at least a couple days of the action. The calendar is already marked for those 10 days.

Only draw back that I can see (I always look at the negative side of things as those are the things that need to be taken care as the positives will take of themselves) is sitting in the bid seats you have to watch when you wipe your nose or you may have just bought that old Duesenberg for 500K +.

That check would bounce higher than the water towers here in TV.

Always have fun looking at the old Chevy's and listening to the guy say it is 100% original. Love the look on their face when I point out that the casting marks on the end of the head says that it has 2.02" intakes and what are they doing on a 57? Back in the 70's a buddy of mine and I knew all the spec's and casting marks for the early model Chevy's and we use to test each other as we checked out the cars at the local cruise in's and at the drag strip. At an auction such as this everything must be disclosed as someone will pick up on any changes and that can seriously effect the price of the car. Still a lot of fun looking.
