Default Florida Doctors Cautiously Using Hydroxychloroquine to Fight Coronavirus

Good interview with with Dr. Marlow Hernandez, Chief Executive Officer at Cano Health in Miami about using hydroxychloroquine in their 46 medical offices in Florida.

So, hydroxychloroquine is not a panacea, but we've used it against immune system-derived overreactions for decades. It's safe for most patients. And as long as it is an individualized treatment decision within a clinical setting, I'm very supportive of using it because it's one of the tools, an important one, no doubt, that we must use until everything is ultimately discovered.

So now I know there's a lot of opinions out there and fortunately, the introduction of politics into the mix. This is a medical issue, not a political one. But unfortunately, just because this is an unprecedented and historic event affecting so many people throughout the world, it's inevitable that there is the introduction of non-medical type of nature. Like, for example, when I hear somebody saying there are no studies to support its use. That is simply not correct.

If I’m gasping to breathe, please know I’m going to want to try it. Some hope is way better than no hope.

Many years ago I was taking Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) daily. I was on it for two years without any side effects. What I remember is every three month I had to visit the Opthamologist and have my eyes dialated to see if there was any build up in the back of my eyes. There was none.

Actually, a lot of Doctors using HCQ in combo with other drugs are giving it to patients before they get severely ill from the virus and need to go on a ventilator..
