Anyone been to Destin, Fl recently and can recommend some really good restaurants?

• Marina Café phone number: 850-837-7960

o Half price pizza in bar on Tuesdays ( very good pizza)

o Happy hour drinks half price 5-7pm every day

o It opens at 5pm ( at least that is how it is when I am there)

o Buy one entrée and get second one free from 5-6pm every day ( I think getting free steak is not allowed but it can be one of the two entrees ( the one you pay for)

• Boshamps (850-424-7406)– right next door to Marina café ( to the east)

o They have a great burger ( not real cheap but it is rather unique and very tasty)

o Other food is good as well but a little pricey

o They have several local craft beers; there is probably a happy hour but I have never been there for that ( I think they specialize in oysters;

• Harbor Docks – just a mile or two west on hwy 98 on left side; on the water can eat inside or out; this one is probably our favorite (fresh seafood)

• Callahan’s – just about one mile or less on hwy 98 on right side; this is not on water but the food is very good; ( variety including local fresh seafood and great deserts)

• McGuire’s – this is an Irish Pub / restaurant with micro-brewery. This one has character and serves large portions; variety of Irish beers ; it has $3M+ dollars bills attached to walls , ceilings, from past patrons and current ones. Steaks are probably their specialty and they are very good. Located about 3 miles west on hwy 98 on the right just before the bridge that goes over to Ft Walton Beach

• Dewey Destin’s – there are actually two locations for this restaurant, one is very causal with variety of seafood and located on side road just past McGuire’s (turn right passed parking lot for McGuire’s and then left on a small street 300yds down that street ( there is a sign on that street but hard to see).

The other Dewey is near Harbor Docks on the left side of hwy 98). It not as causal as the other Dewey’s but not required dress up, it like all the restaurants, is casual dress

• AJ’s – this restaurant is located near Destin Harbor on water and on the Harbor. There are many restaurants along the Harbor but AJ’s is the only one I have been too; foods good but nothing outstanding; best to visit this place if you go to Destin Harbor to walk around the boardwalk walk and Harbor and shops; I usually park in parking garage near Emerald Grande ( large building with condo’s and shops that is probably 20 stories high) Parking in the garage is free.

• The Donut Hole – this is more of a breakfast / lunch place that has lot of fresh pies and cakes and very good breakfast food and great sandwiches ; this restaurant is about 1.5 miles west on hwy 98 on right side of road.

• Land shark Pizza – if you are in the mode for Pizza – seems pricey but very good pizza. It is on left side of hwy 98 west on hwy 98

• LaPaz – Mexican restaurant located on Gulf Shore Blvd about mile from our condo on right side of Gulf Shore BLVD; we have eaten here a couple times and the food is good with decent Margarita’s. Not inexpensive as none of the restaurants are inexpensive in Destin

Good list. If I'm not in the mood for seafood, McGuires is my favorite. They are ALWAYS busy and for good reason.

Be sure to try a cup of Senate Bean Soup as an app at McGuire's. It's only a couple of bucks and really good. One of our favorite lunch spots.

Actually, if you order the Senate Bean Soup as an appetizer with your meal it is 19 cents. That was the price when it was first served at its namesake so McGuires continues that tradition.
