Default Pods, U-Pack or competitors??

Looking into moving the few items we plan to bring after the ultimate downsizing is finished.

Any one have any experience with the Quasi "Pods" companies?

We saw that "Lowes" has a cube packing system like Pods.

Any info on the other companies out there would be greatly appreciated!
Thx!

We used Pods. Were happy with the service. It is a little tricky to pack things so they won't move in the shipment. My husband is very good with ropes and was able to make it so that hardly anything moved.

We also used PODS - a 16 foot unit which was perfect for the few thing we moved. Nothing broke or was damaged (and I am terrible with ropes or ties)! Other than the initial setup all transactions were online, delivery and pickup were right on schedule. Very pleased with them.

We are planning to use a U-haul pod. We called the PODS company. They wanted $2,900 for one of their PODS tp move from WA state to FL. U-haul pods are 1/2 the size of the official PODS -and we hardly have enough to fill up a U-Haul pod. We have mostly boxes and 2 or 3 small pieces of furniture. The price for the U-Haul pod is $1,654 and they said the price will go down by Oct. 15, when we move.

We also used Pods for a 8x16 pod. Had no issues with packing or unpacking. Nothing broken. Plenty of time to use it.

We used ABS Transport. You rent space on a tractor trailer that is delivering things to FL anyway. You rent by the foot and there is a wall you put up and lock. Then they fill the remaining space with manufacturing stuff etc to fill the trailer and ship to FL. Much cheaper than PODS when we did it 3 years ago.

One thing to note is the the cost of using PODS varies with the time of year you are shipping it. Summer months are more expensive.

You will save a lot of money if you don't have the U-Haul pod delivered to your driveway. You can go to a local U-Haul where you are moving from and load your pod there. You then have it shipped to a local U-Haul in TV. This is of course if you don't have large pieces of furniture.
