I remember way back when my uncle had a corner lot. He didn't like the extra time cutting his grass and higher real estate taxes. He also complained about the headlights from cars shinning into the windows when they made a turn.

I am surprised at how many golf carts wind up in our dead end, thinking that they are entering the golf course.

Cup-de-sac. We have a corner lot and have had people drive across it for some unknown reasons.

You need to be sure to get a site survey to determine if there is room for a pool. Many corner lots have a 20’ right a way which will not give you room for a large structure such as a pool or cage. Planning office for Sumter Co has them available. You need unit and lot number and address. Know before you sign on the dotted line.

I live on a corner lot dog park. The grass is totally yellow where the dogs have been. Also a corner lot has 6 watering zones, more mowing and more taxes so those are additional expenses. When I bought the house the realtor told me I could put a pool in if I wanted to but when I called the pool company they said the set back would make it a very small one lane pool.

With a corner you get a large side yard. You cannot landscape for privacy as you must keep line of sight open for drivers. You will find people walking pets on your lawn. You will find people driving across your lawn. You will find people thinking it is ok to cut across your property. A cul de sac, which is what we have, your property will be pie shaped thus other than on your drive parking is limited. Most of us have gardeners, lawn mowing guys. They come in here, many with trailers that are really too wide for these roads. Typically they will park blocking your neighbors drive. If, you have guests over more than fit on your drive, no place to park. |

While a corner will give you a large side lawn, your landscaping needs to keep the road view open. Thus, it will not be private. You will also likely find people walking their dogs on your lawn. Everyone picks it up-except for those who don't. You will also find people who,"think," they should take a short cut and walk across your property. A cul de sac, since your property will be pie shaped, parking other than on your drive is limited. Lawn mowing people. Typically these have riding mowers on a trailer. Many of the trailers are frankly too wide for these roads. |

I enjoy my cul-de-sac home for its quiet surroundings. However: + when a large number of guests come to visit, parking extends up the street in front of the neighbors' homes + the wedge shape of a cul-de-sac home may limit the scope of your landscape options (front yard) I enjoy my corner lot, but: + headlights / noise from passing motorists may annoy guests in the closest bedroom + parking to the corner is not polite as those using the intersection are compromised I enjoy the corner lot: + landscape options are bountiful (my west side is all grass and awaits creative "plantings" + privacy will not be an issue as landscape planning will block whatever |

Definitely a cul-de-sac lot. We had a CV corner lot and since it was constantly being driven on by trash trucks, landscapers with trailers and even cars, our lawn often had a muddy trench on the corner. Also much more cost for landscaping if you don't want to see a bare wall.

We have a small designer home on a corner lot. The cul-d-sac lots in our neighborhood are all big homes.

We have a courtyard villa corner lot and are very happy with it. We also have a beagle. Inside the walls it is all grass with some palms I purchased from Lowe’s. It costs us $30 per month for grass cutting. The cutter does many villas in our complex and he charges everyone the same. It’s great being on a corner with no villa right next to us. It makes it feel a bit more private. We also still have a home in RI with about an acre of grass so I’m kind of partial to seeing green rather than rocks.
