Default Winnie Dixie at Pinellas Plaza?

Anyone know the future status of the Winn Dixie at Pinellas Plaza? Unlike the one at Lake Sumter, it is not currently in the "wind down" phase, at least as far as any closing signage and going out of business specials. Had understood they were sold to Aldi and the staff at the Lake Sumter have known of the plans to close and reopen under that brand. The staff at Pinellas Plaza do not seem aware of the future plans. Also, at Pinellas, there is already an Aldi in that location.

Employees have been informed they are staying WD. The next comeback was until they drop the news that we aren’t.

So my guess is unless one works for Aldi, in the department of I make the decisions, it’s a wait and see.

I do not work for Aldi. I have no inside info. This is just my observations.

I noticed that cosmetics were discounted, and now are gone. I saw discounted pricing on things like light bulbs and batteries. A few shelves here and there are empty.

I noticed that the existing Aldi across the street is smaller than ALDIs in other cities, and is often crowded. There isn’t enough room for all the weekly “finds.” Staff are constantly restocking.

I wouldn’t be surprised if, in time (after Aldi lease expires?), the WD is transformed into Aldi and the old Aldi becomes something else.
