Has anybody else had any issues with glass cracking due to stress that start behind the window frame? We have had our lanai enclosed and the outside glass stressed cracked after one month. They came out and replaced the glass now the inside glass has cracked the same way. So I decided to check all our windows and found a bedroom window cracked the same way. I have had 4 houses in my days and have never experienced this. Our home is almost two years old but was not occupied the first year and I am told this is not under warranty.

Call the warranty department.
This could be a foundation problem. Do you have any cracks in the dry wall? It could also be a sink hole. I would definitely get the experts involved. |

We had a house in Lake Mary, FL & came home one day & the whole patio door pancaked & we had glass everywhere. It just recently happened to my daughter's patio door in Lake Mary. Our house was less than 10 years old, & my daughter's is over 10 years old. If it is happening to both doors & windows, I would definitely check for other cracks in your walls & foundation (Settlement issues?) or something else???

Are all the doors or windows on the same side, or do they have similar sun exposure? Did you have a coating applied to any of these (to cut down on heat or provide privacy)? If so you might be experiencing an uneven heating of the glass causing stress cracking. If the windows and door are easy to open (no binding, etc.) then I would not expect foundation problems, but probably a good idea to check.
Hope this helps.
