Ditto. We also found recent experiences a bit sub par. Plenty of alternatives so no reason to revisit.

Curious, avoiding the dingbat lady, is the lighthouse worth going to now or down hill avoid?

I’ve only been one time and thought, what a great location, it’s too bad the food/drink quality doesn’t match up. What a waste of a great space on the water.

Life is too short to make such a big deal about something like this. Forgive and forget!

So, you order the lunch special for $5.99. And maybe you order a drink, an appetizer, and dessert. And maybe you come with a friend who doesn’t like fish and chips and orders something else at the regular price. When this happens, the restaurant makes a good profit despite selling you the lunch special essentially at cost. This is how specials of this sort always work. “Lunch Specials” are never for “to go” or for “carry out.” That would lose money for the restaurant. “Lunch Special” means you are there for lunch. Is it possible the Original Poster was much less polite than he thinks he was? I’d love to hear the manager’s side of the story.

You are right. I have known the two daughters, mother and father for the 13 years I have been going to that restaurant. They have been friendly, professional and more than accommodating. Like you I seriously doubt this played out as the OP has described.

That is exactly the draw. Many folks (at least us) will order the lunch special (bogo, $5 burger, etc) at a restaurant, sit at the bar, kibitz with the bartender and have a beverage, usually alcoholic. They make up for the food revenue shortfall with the booze tab. They are in business and have expenses (salaries, etc) to meet while making a decent profit. Nothing wrong with advertising dine in only specials but they should specify that in the ad to avoid this kind of situation. IMHO.

When Maureen ran the Lighthouse, everything about it was superb. When she went to "rescue" the poor performing 1812, the Lighthouse started down hill - and 1812 went up. I guess "the kids" are nothing like her! ALL problems like this are management problems.

The last time I dined there the food and service was good. During Covid it went downhill but they my they seem to have improved. An employee doesn’t follow a customer out for no reason. There is obviously another side to this story.
