Default Whirlpool Oven Door Shattered

Husband and I weren't near the stove-thank goodness. All of a sudden we heard this loud pop and crash. The glass is shattered and all over the kitchen floor. Of course it is Sunday and no answer at Whirlpool or The Villages warranty department. We took pictures. We closed on the new house December 2013.

Glass may have been defective. Happy to hear you were not near and escaped injury.

OP, a couple of questions, was the oven on when this happened? If on was it possible whatever you were cooking splashed on the glass? I agree it could have been defective glass, a call to Whirlpool would be your best first step, as that is what home warranty will refer you to anyway. If the food splashed on the glass you may be out of luck, no idea if the glass is warranted for that type of occurrence. glad you were not hurt.

I have heard of this happening. I am glad you were safe and not near the oven when this occurred.

Here is an interesting article on the subject......

Hope this helps....

We were not cooking or using the oven at the time. The oven hadn't been used for several days. Just talked to Whirlpool and they will replace the glass or the door to make it safe to use again for free. They can't come out until next Monday however.

I've never heard of anything like this. I"m guessing it was defective glass.
