I have bought & have had visiting relatives buy from The Orange Barn (301 US-441, Lady Lake, FL 32159). They carry only the FL oranges & grapefruits which are in season at any particular time of year. So you know you are getting FL fruit. They also have OJ in gallons & lots of other food items to buy. Really enjoy their shop.

I sent fruit to all of my relatives in NC at Christmas, and they were thrilled with the quality of the oranges they received from Gregory's Groves in nearby Weirsdale. I ordered Florida Honeybell Oranges when they were the TSV on QVC last week! Unfortunately, I missed the first shipment and won't get mine for at least another week.

If you don't want to pick your own they also have plenty sold by the pound or by the bag. It's a fun adventure in pretty weather!

The Florida Honeybell Oranges that I ordered from QVC arrived today! Mom and I split one and it was delicious! I paid $39 for one tray (14 oranges) and that included shipping and handling. I chose auto-delivery so I get the oranges for the same price next year. I can always cancel next year's order. Intrestingly, the included materials were from Harry & David.

I'm curious what would one tray of oranges cost if I were able to buy them near The Villages?

On Friday I bought wonderful, big, sweet Ruby Red grapefruit at Jennings on the corner of 466 and 301. They were 75 cents each. I bought some really good oranges there, too. I chose everything from those bins outside.

You can eat grapefruit? So many people have mentioned that they can't because of some common medication seniors take. I can't think what it is.

Yes. I do.

I had forgotten about the point you just made. Here is all I know about that............

I know there are medical articles about grapefruit and statins so people who take statins and like grapefruit should ask their docs. I think the grapefruit effect may vary by amount and also may vary by the specific statin within that class of drugs. Certainly statin-users should check on the science with their doctors.
