Default We are thinking about switching to YouTube TV from Direct TV...

If we do, how can we get rid of the in-ground satellite dish in the back yard?

thank you...

Need to remove it yourself, they will not want it or remove it. You tube is great since I dumped Comcast TV.

Just cut the cable and remove the dish/pole, throw away.
If you can’t do it, youll need to find an handyman or landscaper to do it.

I’ve been with YouTube TV for a few years - really like it.

Be sure to check the channels that youtubeTV has versus the channels you normally watch. YouTubeTV didn't have a couple that we watch compared to Directv. In case you aren't aware, you can get Directv stream which is cheaper than Directv by satellite. There is a streaming app but it doesn't work well IMO because you can not enter channel #'s. DirecTV stream has a small box (approx 6x6x1/2) and the menu and all remote functions work exactly like the sat service. Channel #'s are the same. There used to be refurb boxes available for about $50 which is what we chose. New boxes can be paid for monthly on your bill until paid in full. Sign up online and get free unlimited DVR. Recordings are saved for 9 months.

Clarck Howard just had a article in cutting the cord from cable to streaming.

He warns that the future of streaming will be raising their prices and suddenly we'll be paying cable prices again.
Shop wisely for streaming services.

The nice thing about streaming is that you can cancel anytime, (for now anyways.)

We had DirectTV with a dish in our last location. Arriving in Central Florida, we had Spectrum for about 4 years. Then six years ago, I returned all my Spectrum boxes (3) and cut the cord in favor of Sling TV. We just had a $5.00 a month increase on Sling so we now pay $45.18 per month. The cost is $40.00 plus $5.18 tax. Six years ago the cost was $30.00. A ten dollar increase over 6 years doesn't sound too bad to me. Over the past six years we have changed our plan several times within Sling and added things like sports packages. With Sling, changes are easy and immediate. You simply log in and make your changes. The new changes are available within 60 seconds. So until Sling raises their prices ridiculously or runs me around, we will continue to keep Sling and recommend them to others.

My son got rid of cable and has YouTube etc. I find it takes about 5 minutes to change the channel.

It sounds like you need to set up favorite channels. It should only take a second of so to get to a new channel.

Google Assistant works so great with YouTube TV, tell it what you want to watch, and boom you are watching.

We're really curious about your decision to take UT over Comcast; specifically what criteria did you use to determine if it was the best deal for you ? Comcast just raised AGAIN... it never stops with them, running almost $200 now for two TV's and internet. But, while people post on here about getting internet rates of $45 and $50 a month, we asked our present provider (Comcast) and found if we drop them for our TV service, our internet rate would move to $96 a mo. and that's not for their high speed/high use service we would (assume ? ?) we'd need to use a streaming service like UTube ? I know this is going to attract opinions from many directions, but, if we don't ask for input, we just don't know how to figure if it would be any savings for us ?

We have internet with Centurylink/Quantum 200 mbps stream 3 tv’s laptop and tablet it's $30 monthly. Stream IPTV locals, sports, and entertainment @ $20 monthly but no DVR. We have been doing this for 5 years+ with minor issues

Such good advice, and I don't think we really have to guess that once streaming becomes the main/majority choice, the cost will definitely be going up, and up, and up some more; it's inevitable. Wish our entire population of the USA would demand a system we found in a number of other counties: you chose a price package you can afford, then choose the channels you want IN that package according to the number allowed in the package you choose. It make far more sense as people have such diverse interests and desires in TV. I think (not sure ? ?) streaming is similar ? If you are a news junky you can just subscribe to 8 or more news sources ? A sports junky can just select sports oriented channels, etc. I suspect ? But don't actually understand how streaming "sells" their service/packages !

So how does Century link work ? Didn't they USED to be in this area and then closed up every office, even those in Ocala ? Didn't they go out of business ? But yes, DEFINITELY interesting in $30 a mo. internet and don't have nearly as many devices, a laptop, TV, and a small TV in a bedroom, so would be plenty. Any additional taxes and fees on that $30 ? Not sure what IPTV is, but $20 (again, no fees and taxes ? Comcast has at least $15 in various taxes and fees !) seems very reasonable. Do you get most of the same channels you got when you had Comcast ?
