Looking to sell a golf cart and noticed several "We buy golf cart" ads in the Daily Sun. Anybody have an experience using one of these to move a cart that's not needed anymore? Positive or negative.

With all the snowbirds in town it's a great time to sell. The guys that advertise buying carts will give you less than market value so they can make a profit. Although there's nothing wrong with that. Unless you're in a bind, selling yourself is a better way. If it's a nice cart it won't last long. |

I sold one that way. Fast and cash, but don't expect a good offer for a Par Car.

Yes, they will buy your cart, but you will get a low offer. Your better off selling private.

Our house was turnkey and that included a golf cart. Sort of, anyway. About 20 years old, electric, that went maybe two miles on a charge. I had stopped at a place to see what it might be worth on trade, and received a lukewarm "maybe $400--if it's in good shape". Nope. Anyway, I called the guy. First names only. Told him about the cart and made an appointment for the following morning. He showed up promptly towing a trailer with one other cart on it, looked it over and said "a grand". Told him I could get more if I advertised it and would ask $1,600. After a few more exchanges we settled on $1,400.00. He peeled of fourteen hundred-dollar bills, handed them over, loaded up the cart and was gone. Never even knew his last name. |

I did the same thing as above, I had bought the cart from a neighbor a few years earlier, and really did not like the fact that it would go 27 MPH. I then found out the governor in the differential was bad and the only way to repair it was to replace the differential. The guy offered $1000, I was happy, and i would have no liability going forward.

Upnorth...these people low ball you and resell high. Post your cart on Nextdoor.com ( free) or The Villages Virtual Yard Sale, or Talk of the Villages classified, or The Lady Lake Virtual Yard Sale among many other sites to use.

I had two of them - sorry, can't remember their names - come to look at an old Par Car. The first wasn't interested as there was some battery-leakage damage (apparently quite common in old Par Cars) but the second offered me an acceptable price.
I suspect that a newer cart would be better sold through TOTV, but there might not be any interest in an older one. Still worth a try, though. |

I sold mine on my own. I believe I got the most money by not having an outside seller get a portion of the sale. The buyer got a good deal and so did I.

Lots of golf cart flippers around. A quick way to make a grand or two with every cart.

I sold our electric cart to Tony, from his ad in the paper. Good guy.

I would only meet at a public place like in front of the bank, so I can quickly deposit the money.
Lots of shady scammers out there. |
