Just noticed on my latest The Villages VMail the catch phrase, "The Villages, Florida's friendliest home town" has been changed to...."The Villages Florida's friendliest retirement home town". Anyone know when this change was made?

Wonder why the change? Do you think it is a positive change for the image of our community? Have all the signs been changed too? Hubby and I are seasonal and we don't arrive in TV until January.

btk: Old f---- i can't even write it is such a micro-aggressive term, a trigger warning that is so offensive it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stiffen. I am almost at the stage of fainting . My soul can't bear much more of this I am fragile Just joking I wanted to embrace the PC university experience for just a moment . Just don't wear an Indian costume next Halloween its highly offensive and so is saying "go Redskins"

I thought it was being changed to The Healthiest Town. I think I heard that 2 years ago when I was shopping.

I think we stopped being a "home town" and graduated to a large city sometime ago.
But "home town" sounds so friendly and folksy.
Perhaps TV Management made the change because it wants to emphasize that even though TV is now a big city,
it's still basically a retirement community (and still friendly).
Although some would argue both those points.

If "buildout" does occur next year, you will see a lot of changes in the marketing strategy of The Villages. By "buildout", no new homes construction.

Maybe The Villages has reached its 20% of residents under age 55 [or is close to it] and is seeking to recruit just the retiree for now?

I hope "retirement" hometown does not stay in the slogan. To me, "retirement" sounds "no longer active, productive or contributing to society". That is not how The Villages is, at all.

"Florida's liveliest hometown" would be great and more fitting.

Because when it was Spanish Springs, it looked like a Hometown, Brownwood, what does that look like, not my hometown.

This is the first I've heard of it. It seems a strange choice since there are so many people here who are not retired, especially the hanger on children who follow their parents here.

I'm still hearing Florida's Friendliest Hometown on the radio station.

I don't believe anything has been changed.....
