You should start or join your village’s Facebook page. As soon as the District posted about trash pickup yesterday we all knew about it.

Also go to the districtgov.org website and sign up for notifications.

The District Office is offering updated information about trash pickup during Tropical Storm Nicole.

If you live in Community Development Districts 1 – 11 located in Sumter County, Marion County or Fruitland Park portions of The Villages, there will be no sanitation schedule changes.

Community Development District 12 and 13

If you live in Community Development District 12 or 13, residents who normally receive collection on Thursday will receive collection on Monday, Nov. 14. There will be no collection on Thursday. Residents who normally receive collection on Friday will receive service as normal.

Lady Lake/Lake County portion of The Villages

If you live in the Town of Lady Lake portion of The Villages, residents who normally receive collection on Thursday will receive collection on Monday, Nov. 14. There will be no collection on Thursday. Residents who normally receive collection on Friday will receive service as normal.

If you live in the Lake County portion of The Villages (not including CDD 11), curbside collection services will remain suspended through the morning of Friday, Nov. 11 and will continue when road conditions are safe for haulers. This thread shows that there was a glitch in communicating whether trash collection was to be performed today. There is a need for that info, and it certainly was not met by TheVillages.net website which clearly stated last night that the collection for certain districts would be as scheduled today. If you miss the scheduled pickup in our area (Occurs around 6:30 AM), you are stuck until next Tuesday. So out goes the trash. To change that schedule today for today's pickup certainly means that someone let us down. They knew what today's weather was going to be days ago. Nothing changed but their schedule. I wonder if they called up their employees today after 7 AM to tell them no work today.

Perhaps they should rethink their process. Wouldn't hurt to have their customers get the info.

Wish I could change the system for you, however, readers here cannot do that. Why not share your concerns with district Government?

OMG, 3 pages of replies over a simple yes or no question that was answered. Most of them repeating answers that have already been posted. SMH

Agree.

Everyone was locked up today.

Too rainy for dog poop.
No one driving around for white crosses.
No one driving around & hitting gates.
No one dining out.

Let's talk trash.

Sadly, it's like this every day. TOTV is a post only board.

We’re in CDD 11 and trash in our neighborhood (St James) was understandably not picked up yesterday. Some folks put trash out and others didn’t. Thank you to those of you who posted helpful updates.

Its my fault. I cooked fish tuesday thinking that we can make it to Thursday for the trash pick up. Now, it has to sit until next Monday. What do you all do to keep the ants out of the bag in the garage? We double bag and spray, but I think they like the spray.

If you suscribe to the district notifications, you'll get this kind of info sent to you. You can do this at the same website.
