Default Those restrooms on the golf course. Are they for the general public?

I think this may have been discussed before, but here we go again.

The restrooms along the golf courses, both executive and championship, from time to time, are situated next to public streets. Does that make them public restrooms. If I understand correctly, our amenity fees pay for the ones on the executive courses and the championship operators own the ones on their courses.

More than occasionally, construction crews, garbage truck employees, and passers-by in general use them. I understand their need, but! Golfers have only a limited time as they pass the restrooms. Outsiders do not have the same feeling of responsibility as Village residents do. Many times the construction guys are there early in the day, so you know what the purpose is. Sometimes two or more of them are waiting in line. Is there a good answer to this. Are they public restrooms? If they are, then that's the answer. At some courses, outside of the Villages, you need a key to get in.

What made me think of this, again, is we just drove past the one along Calumet on the Oakley course and there were two construction trucks and a garbage truck sitting there to use it.

Toooooo much to think about.
On one hand yes, we pay for the restrooms
On the other hand, we pay for the trash pickup and road construction.
and when you gotta go.......... you gotta go

Default The Villages could always install pay per use toilets at...

...these golf course rest rooms.

I see that one airline is thinking about credit card opening toilets. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29532865/

True enough. When the golfers "gotta go" they only have about two minutes as they pass by. If there is a line of construction guys, the golfers lose out, don't they. Last week, there were three lawn guys waiting in front of me on Lopez. I had continue on without the comfort stop.

I would have asked to use the place and let them wait....who paid the greens fee?

TH this is not only at the golf courses but at the neighborhood pools. I was at the pool in Bonnybrook one day when a lawn crew pulled in to use the facilities. I though nothing of it at the time but noticed it a few more times with other crews at other sites.

I'm with you, Bogie. No way should they use the golf course facilities. There are plenty of comfort stations in the construction areas. It should be posted on the door.

Bogie,

I'm with you....isn't that why contractors have porta-potties on-site?

As far as others (Villagers out for a stroll) go, those facilities wouldn't be there if there wasn't a golf course. And golf courses are for golfers, paths included (most of 'em anyway)! Those walking their dog (or spouse) should plan accordingly!

I find the fact that restrooms paid for by amenity fees or greens fees are being used by workmen as public facilities to be unacceptable.

Allowances should be made by contractors/lawn maintance/etc to provide portable toilets even if they have to be towed in on a trailer in the morning, left in the general work area, and removed by the end of the day.

I'm not a snob, nor would I be unkind to a person in need, but I would expect, no, demand, a certain degree of exclusivity in a neighborhood like TV.

Access by TV residents only would be easy enough to accomplish using a magnetic strip on an ID card and a card swiping lock on the restroom doors.

Is there anything Villagers can do about this outrage?

I have to agree with Dirigo. The resident id should be used as a pass key. The public restrooms in the town squares aren't that far away. Particularly if you have a car or truck.

Would you perfer the workers PEEING behind a bushv? That's what would happen, If someone gets upset because they had to wait a minute to use the John, Sorry it's not that big a deal. This is just my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions.

Don't know about you, but I think most people (other Villagers, that is) prefer to "go" at home. Mother Nature doesn't always respect your advance planning, however. I can't see most Villagers strolling past golf course or pool restrooms just so they can use those instead of their own at home. Do their ammenity fees not pay for those also, not just the golfers? Could be they are golfers, not just at that particular time. As for the contractors, I agree; but if they are there, they should have to go to the back of the line, not the golfers.

If I ever am lucky enough to live in TV when I retire and I see someone talking a whiz behind a bush I will take a photo with my cell phone and call the cops. Once a few workers have been warned about lewd behavior and what that will do to their ability to keep a job, they'll seek an appropriate venue to answer the call of nature.

If, in fact, all restroom facilities in TV are legally considered public facilities then I'll back off and have to accept the situation or decide to look elsewhere for my retirement living.

We all have our hot buttons and this one is mine.
