I'll be entertaining friends in a couple weeks. Would like to cook up a standing rib roast in the rotisserie. I checked Sam's. They don't carry, excepting around the holidays. I could likely place an order a couple days before, but really don't want to have any mixups the day I need to pickup the rib roast, and then be scrambling around to locate option B.
Went by my local Publix. No dice. Would like to know a place that carries this cut routinely. Maybe it needs to be special order, outside of the holiday season? Where I came from, the local Costco always had them in stock. Would rather not drive to Costco, but will if necessary. I'm new to the villages so am unfamiliar with all the options in the area, at this point. My rotisserie can accommodate a large roast, no issues. Thinking in the 6 - 8 pound range, prime cut. Will be plenty for everyone, and leave some leftovers. Oh yeah! Boneless is fine. Thanks in advance. ![]() |

Saturday farmers market in Brownwood there is a butcher that come usually parks by blue fin. Meat is excellent, I am sure they would be happy to accommodate you. Name escapes me right now, but have bought from them several times.
You mentioned boneless would work, but it would no longer be a standing rib roast. Just roast. I sous vide my standing rib, to rare, then torch the outside to get that crust a standing rib should have.

Costco opens in Clermont Nov 14 on SR 50. There is also a butcher shop on 301 in Wildwood.

Go to Publix.com and search for "standing rib roast". Order online. I would recommend the Greenwise, USDA Prime. Way better than USDA Choice.

Publix almost always has prime rib available, on sale, during the Christmas holidays. It's usually very cheap, like $7.99 a pound. But buyer beware, I usually buy one or two and cut them into ribeye steaks, but don't cook them as a roast any more, as they have not been consistently tender. If you want to ensure a great roast, I'd suggest you find a prime rib roast graded prime, not choice. It will cost you, but will be worth it if you want to have a tender roast. Publix does not sell prime grade meat as far as I know.

I was about to suggest Winn Dixie, but I looked at their online shopping site for Pinellas Plaza & while they had a selection of ribeye steaks, they didn't have a roast. Perhaps you could call them?

Have you checked Fresh Market?
Worst case you could call Whole Foods in Orlando and see if they have them.

At Publix you talk to the meatcutter and order a standing rib roast do it all the time actually buy 2 one for roast and have the other cut into steaks. Public actually cuts meat in store
“ Both Prime Rib and Beef Ribeye Roast are the same cut of meat (also called a standing rib roast, boneless prime rib, or boneless rib roast). The only difference is that Prime Rib is typically roasted bone-in, but boneless Prime Rib often called a Beef Ribeye Roast.” |
