Still under construction but moves smoothly (at least last month). We always go 46 and enjoy seeing the development. Heading that way again on Monday for the Auto Train. Now if they could only do something about 441.

46 will be a great route to take in the year 2025. I used it a month ago and will be using it again tomorrow to pick up my brother who likes to use Allegiant airlines. There is one turn that is not intuitive to take and construction is still going on in many places. On the return trip to the Villages, my GPS keep saying the road is closed and please take another route. Once completed, 46 will be the easiest part of the trip.

Took it just last Thursday to Lake Mary and to TV on Friday. It's slow, about 35-45 mph while on SR46, but it stills moves along okay. It took me 1hr 15 minutes from Spanish Springs area to Rinehart Road in Lake Mary at 3pm arrival time on Thursday and the same amount of time back on Friday at around 10am. Hope this info helps.

GPS does say that. When you get by the Redtail Golf Course off of 46A (on the west side), there's a left-hand turn onto a "46A" shortcut that connects to 46. It's not well marked other than the left-hand turn lane and the fact it's about a block's distance from the entrance to Redtail (also not well marked). It's about 3 miles or so on this road that will then take a sharp turn to the stoplight at SR46.

I went that way a few weeks back. Avoid it like the plague.

If you're coming from TV take the Turnpike to either 4 or 17. Just get on the turnpike and let Waze route you from there. If you're coming from Mt Dora, it'll be painful but faster than dropping south to go around it.

If you do choose to go via Hwy 46, don’t be fooled by the GPS systems trying to get you to take the toll roads. Just stay on 46.

Just did today.

Took the tollway to the airport this morning to make sure my Bride made her flight.
For fun, took 46 et al home.
Too much construction to consider this as a reliable trip.
Highly recommend the long route, will get there sooner than the short cut.

Took Rt. 46 to Sanford a week ago. The toll road 429 is under construction along side Rt 46 and it’s “coming along”. From what I saw, maybe 429 toll road is two years from being completed. It’s doable and I liked the scenery. But to each his own...
