We need a palm tree cut, about 20'. Just cut, no stump grinding. Caroline village. Our regular landscaper says $350. Is that right? We've had people knock on door wanting to cut it. Looking for price and recommendations from others.

We had one that size cut down. $350 is about right. Doesn't take but 1/2 hour, but it's a tough job.
If you like your landscaper, just let him do it. |

Make sure they are licensed and insured. Bad things can happen when they fall.

I am looking at removal of palm trees, have had a couple of quotes and find that the landscaper costs are much higher than the quote from a dedicated tree removal/stump grinding service.
There are threads on TOTV recommending tree services. |

Sounds reasonable, as previously noted check for license and insurance, make sure all vehicles are out of the area. I am curious why you are not having the stump removed, this seems strange.

Just trying to get a price for cutting. Presume grinding it will add to that.
We had a palm cut before, close to the ground, flat. Not objectionable. I put a big rock on it. |

Have Winburns Tree Service give you a quote, I’ve used them in the past. Their very experienced, were quite reasonable for cutting, stump grinding. They clean up after nicely! 352-636-2074 or 352-259-6680

True businesses have a license, versus a "handyman" or a fly by night outfit, this just protects you the buyer, so no there is no source that requires a license to remove a palm, but if something goes wrong you will wish the entity removing the palm had one.

I don’t believe he means one has to have approval or license to remove a palm. Palms are not technical trees, just grasses. The license allows him to work in your county and still be covered by his insurance if they happen to fall out of the palm and hurt themselves (no Dan Newland) , damage your home, etc.

If you want a second quote talk to Ameritree. Matt Ray is reasonable and does a great job. He can also quote taking out the stomp separately. +1 (607) 317-7036

Palms are considered grasses and I’ve read that their stumps naturally decay and dissolve into to ground in a couple of years. Stump grinding is not considered necessary unless you want to plant something in that exact spot immediately. |

Michael is a good choice for this job. His team took down two palms for us, one was 40’ ($600) and the other 20’ ($250), including grinding both stumps. His team is quick, efficient and they have all the necessary equipment.
