For those with paver driveways that have had shingles delivered for re-roof….did you have any problems resulting from the delivery truck driving on your driveway? For reference, our pavers are 3 years old and the thicker 3” type. Only the first 12-16” at the curb is on packed sand and the rest is over concrete. Thanks in advance for your insight.

When I have a delivery over van size, I put a couple of 8'x4'x1" ply boards down.
Spreads the weight. I have all sand. |

You could express your concern with the roofing company, and explain to them that they will be responsible for any damages, however the thicker 3 inch pavers should be very resistant to cracking. Interesting question, I would also be concerned if the trash container has steel wheels, then I would require the previously mentioned plywood protection.

Our roofer (Eustis) put boards down onto which to reverse the truck, having "cased the joint" the previous day

Our roofer was Bowles. Excellent professional company. Before anything arrived their team came to the house and laid tarps over the driveway, all the landscaping around the house. They then covered the driveway in plywood. When they finished they just rolled up the tarps and took everything with them. No damage to anything.

Maybe snap some pictures before the process begins?

Our next-door neighbor had shingles delivered. The company did not lay down any plywood down to spread out the pressure. Caused 13 pavers to be cracked.

With the thick pavers on a sand base, I am more concern with the concentration of weight depressing the pavers in the sand base. Creating grooves in the pavers.
Has anyone experience this? |

have your roofer and yourself take pictures before the delivery. that way there is proof if there is any damage

I insisted that the delivery truck place 3/4 plywood on the driveway before booming shingles from my paver type driveway. I took pictures of the driveway before they delivered and I had the understanding that the contractor (not the delivery people ) is responsible for any damage done. I had no problem.
Also, I took pictures of my bird cage too. They did damage one of the screens and took responsibility and repaired it. Good luck. |

Not had a sinking/grooving problem. I also board area where pallets, dumpster etc. are going to prevent any surface gouging. |
