We are getting close to purchasing a lot. I'm trying to figure out how much a pool is going to cost. I know there's a ton of variables. But I'm curious what 75k gets you compared to 100K. Any pictures would be fantastic. It's almost impossible to work with t&d unless you're further in the process.

Three years ago $63K got us a beautiful 12x24 concrete salt water pool that is 3.5 to 5.5 feet deep. The pool has two waterfalls, led underwater lights, auto level water feature, a couple of rows of tile around the pool, solar heat as well as a heat pump, a pool cover that can be easily rolled up and is stored inside the pool deck, and a wireless Bluetooth device that controls all the pools functions. Included in the cost was everything turn key including re-sodding the lawn and new irrigation where things had to be moved. It also included a beautiful birdcage and deck that runs the entire length of the back of our house with a door on each side, and a hose bib and electrical outlet in the birdcage. T&D was our contractor and I would highly recommend them despite the wait. Good Luck.

We added a bath and a birdcage from T&D. Vera offered us several different options in price. I am very conservative with money. Members of my family who love me call me close to miserly. I saw the plans and chose the lesser priced one. My husband who is also a careful person with money said, NO. For once we are going to get the larger option. We can afford it and we are going to enjoy it. And we did. I am so glad. It is a constant source of enjoyment to the three of us. To bathe in and look out on and sit next to. Plus our two kitties are in heaven walking around it and looking out at the butterflies and birds and catching an occasional gecko.

We have gotten two estimates so far. One was mid- to high 50's, the other mid- to high 60's. Materials for the latter are higher end (i.e. pavers instead of composite decking). Still trying to decide if we want to invest that much money in our house. Decisions. Decisions.

IMHO, move into your house, see how the local pools are and possibly save yourself $$$$$. We have 4 pools within 1 mile of our house. This made our decision very easy, a hot tub on the lanai was our solution, and the local pools when we want to.

We'll be going through the design process here shortly. Our designer says the average pool price during construction is about $60,000. Although pools of $100k+ aren't uncommon.

Just make sure when you select a lot that it is big enough for a pool. They actually provided us with a CAD drawing of our lot with our house and pool placed on it before we put down our deposit..

We waited over two years after buying our house before having our pool built. We wanted to be certain it was our forever Villages home before making the significant investment. We are so happy we finally pulled the trigger, it adds so much pleasure to our home. I would advise you to not go with pavers. They are a long term maintenance headache. They have too many spaces in between for unwanted stuff to collect and sprout weeds, and they become uneven and pose a tripping hazard over time. A flat surface that can be easily cleaned and maintained is the way to go. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

Good answer with so many pools close to most homes the cost of installation and maintenance of a large pool is a serious consideration.

A pool will be at least $60k. If you can afford it, build a nice pool and enjoy it. If you can’t afford a pool, visit one of the many community pools in the villages...

Get bids from a few companies. I’d stay away from T&D, very basic/cheap construction

Get a heat pump instead of a gas heater. Make sure you get a salt pool and some automation. You may want to add some water features for aesthetics and road noise reduction. Choose a nice water line tile.

What is the cost to keep up a pool?

We had Fiesta Pools of Ocala put in our pool 6 years ago. My husband and I agree it was worth every dollar. We use it constantly, especially at night when all TV pools are closed. We pay T&D $130 per month to maintain the pool and that includes vacuuming, cleaning the tiles, balancing the water, washing the filter and the chemicals. The privacy is wonderful. Highly recommend for residents to put in their own pool.
