Default Political Signage on Golf Carts

Villagers should be able to display political signage showing their support. However, some carts are displaying obnoxious signs with crude obscene language. Even though we live in a senior community, it would seem that some degree of decency should be used. Certainly not something to respect.

I would NEVER display my preference - heard some stories of vandalism, confrontations, fingers, etc etc.

Bottom line for me - it's a personal decision and choice. And certainly one that IS NOT impacted by other's signs or such.

I DO have a small American flag on my cart roof. 2 reasons - I am proud of my country, and I can easily check wind conditions on the course...

I just don't understand why people put these BIG signs on the middle of their windshields. That's got to be some kind of hazard, no? Half these cart drivers can't see without a sign taking up 1/5 of their vision, and now they're gonna add the sign to it?

Shouldn't be allowed to put anything bigger than a bumper sticker if it's on the front windshield, and only in one of the corners, or behind the rear view mirror.

So "we" should dictate how big of a sign we can put on a windshield. And where we can put it.
I've seen large posters for both candidates on the windshield of golf carts. I have no issue. People want to proclaim who they support. It's non-violent. I have NO desire to do that, but I respect that everyone has freedom of speech.

At least one can put a sign supporting their desired candidate on their vehicle in the Villages and have a reasonable probability that your ride won't get vandalized. In the area were our second home is up north, if you don't support the party of the self proclaimed special people, expect your ride to get keyed.

We're not in TV, yet, we're out in the middle of suburbia. I've seen plenty of signs in yards and on windshields but nothing obscene, crude/vulgar. Can you describe what the signs were saying? I'm having a hard time picturing a retiree driving around in a golf cart with an "Eff (political candidate's name)" sign but this election is making some people sort of crazy...

The purpose of this thread was not to be critical of size but to be critical of the use of obscene words. Saw one today in huge letters saying " FUQK XXXXX". Not specifically a word , but the meaning was clear.

Seriously folks. Put sports team signs on your carts not obnoxious political trash. SURE, YEA, 1ST AMENDMENT, I got it but what is gained by "proclaiming support" for any politician ? We're adults here. Why does it make you feel good? Ya think it's going to change someone's mind? Maybe the wrong way? Why not get a tattoo and put it on your back and drive without a shirt so you can proclaim unending devotion? Why should ANY politician be worth proselytizing for? Proselytizing religion is bad enough but these are POLITICIANS of which 90% are in it for just the power and money. Can you "love" someone so much you need huge signs to prove it? If so why doesn't anyone put signs with their wife or grandkids on the big obnoxious signs? I guess you love politicians more than family? What have politicians ever done for you that they deserve such adulation? This is SICK. Outsiders laugh at what goes on around here. The parades, the political flags, the signs. It's embarrassing for both sides. I dare to say there is nowhere else that is so obnoxiously involved with proclamations of such overwhelming adoration for a bunch of scoundrels like politicians ON BOTH SIDES. Just go vote for your fave. Why do we need this embarrassing show?

Whew. Now I feel better!
The preceding was MY OPINION, YMMV.

Well I have and at any given time on certain intersections there is a cart or two parked with huge obnoxious signs, and they aren’t “pro” for who their voting for, it’s derogatory for who they are against and I quite frankly am sick of seeing the individual and usually 1 or 2 cohorts...extremely juvenile behavior. And to park in busy intersections were we are forced to view their pathetic sentiments, is my issue...they need to grow up, it’s a senior community not a teenager hangout...

I see a sign that uses vulgar language and I think, why would I vote for anyone whose supporters talk like that?

How about we take ALL political signs down everywhere in TV. You can’t put a tiny white cross in your yard, but a pimped out golf cart is ok?

Take away this political divide and we’d all just be the greatest collection of seniors in the country
