No. I Have shutters and light blocking drapes in the same window,if you want to keep 100% of the light out.

I had them on my previous home and they will be installed by 48Hr-blinds soon in my new home. I like the wide slats, not the split right to left that most sell. They block most of the sun, 'sun-block-drapes block 100%

Yes they do make the room darker if you close them facing up then down. They will also help keep the heat out when closed. Do your homework and do not necessarily go with the cheapest company. We used Blinds plus Shutters and were very satisfied.

Mine work fine but when it starts getting light outside they allow light to come in where they do not fit tightly at the edges. During the night other electronic lights (clock, cable box, etc.) are way more annoying. They do not darken the room enough to get any quality sleep during the day if you need it. I like them and would get them again. I especially like the wider slats. Have had both.

I’ve had plantation shutters in many of my homes and they including the last 4 . I don’t no how dark you want them , but they are okay for me. The OP was right about paying maybe a little more , you can’t go wrong with village blind and shutters. FYI I like my homes to have a certain sleek look in never put drapes or curtains around them, if you are you might as well have regular blinds, I always take down the sliders also and put up s some kind of crinkle or other type of slider , the worse thing you can do for a room is keep those original sliders when there are so many different types of shade to put there

We've had them since moving in 4 yrs ago and they work and look just great! Not gonna give you 100%, air seal tight darkness, if that's what you need. But you can certainly nap/sleep during the daytime easily enough, as ca)n visiting kids/infants. Blinds4Less in Lady Lake did ours, as well as roller shades on lanai, and fabric draw shades on sliding doors - All fantastic jobs!! (352) 753-5003

We have plantation shutters on order for our entire 2650 sq ft house to replace 20 year old vertical blinds. Got two estimates. Significant price difference between them. If you want details send me a private message.

We’ve put plantation blinds all over our home. We’ve been using Blinds 4 Less, in Fruitland Park, for all our window coverings for years. Haven’t used them in a couple of years because we have no more windows to cover.

We just installed plantation shutters throughout our entire home (Iris). Love them! I was amazed at how much better they were at reducing the light level in the bedroom than the old blinds. We bought them from Blinds for Less and couldn't be happier!

For total darkness I go for blackout fabric as a curtain. I go the extra mile by having it velcroed to the sides on the wall (sticky backed sided on wall and on curtain), velcroed in the middle of joining curtains and a valence at the top of curtains that is flush to the ceiling. Perfect black out. Nothing is else is as good in my book.

My daughter has them in CA & I loved hers so just ordered thru Home Depot with Rockwood Shutters. 3.5 inch slats with the trim around the edges. The technical measurements have been done & the guy said I should have them in a few weeks times. Really looking forward to having them installed as I do think they add a great look to the house.
