Default Parking trucks after 1July

Hi,

I am planning to move within the next 18 months to the villages. So today I ran across an article about parking in HOA's, HB-1203. As I tow a toy hauler RV at 20K pounds with a 1 ton Dully. Wondering if I would now be able to park this truck in my driveway.

Read your dead restrictions, most allow for smaller trucks (around 1500 pound) capability to be parked in the driveway. IMHO your truck may be too large.

I believe he is talking about a recently passed bill that will allow people to parking their vehicle in their driveway as long as it is not classified as a commercial vehicle. Here is the part I believe he is talking about. I think this bill goes into effect on July 1.

(b) A property owner or a tenant, a guest, or an invitee
918 of the property owner from parking his or her personal vehicle,
919 including a pickup truck, in the property owner's driveway, or
920 in any other area at which the property owner or the property
921 owner's tenant, guest, or invitee has a right to park as
922 governed by state, county, and municipal regulations. The
923 homeowners' association documents, including declarations of
924 covenants, articles of incorporation, or bylaws, may not
925 prohibit, regardless of any official insignia or visible
designation, a property owner or a tenant, a guest, or an
927 invitee of the property owner from parking his or her work
928 vehicle, which is not a commercial motor vehicle as defined in
929 s. 320.01(25), in the property owner's driveway.

This bill amends section 468 of the Florida code which deals with HOAs. The Villages does not have a section 468 HOA, the Villages has a section 190 CDD. This bill does not affect the Villages.

As mentioned previously, take a look at your deed restrictions and the ARC manual for your District to see what is and is not allowed.

Check your deed restriction, but I think in general, an RV 72 hours.

As stated previously, no HOA in The Villages.

You can park a 3/4 ton in your driveway but 1 ton duallys are not allowed. And that's a fact jack.

Unless you buy in village that allows it no. Horse farms lots (around 500K) and couple more like Harmsowood? I know Harmsowood allows RV garages.

Trucks parked in driveways……just add so much.

There is some controversy about it but you may be able to park it on the street in some villages. The streets are controlled by the county. Even if you legally can park in the street your neighbors would be very unhappy. That doesn’t make for a peaceful retirement environment.

Since my husband & I actually had this issue…you may have any RV on the street in front of your home for 3 nights in a row, to load or unload. You are NOT allowed to park a Duelly in your driveway day in & day out. I’m not sure of any new ordinance. As far as the street…anyone can park any vehicle there. Contrary to popular belief, that’s legal. The problem lies not with the local ordinances…it lies with your neighbors. If someone doesn’t like what you do they can report you & make life miserable for you. The good news is that NOW they can’t file a complaint anonymously, so you can find out who the squeaky hinge is. 😉

It just depends on how quickly you get warned and then possibly towed. If not that, then if you want your neighbors to hate the sight of you whenever your outside. Entitlement attitude comes with a price.

Just wanted to note that in some CDDs its illegal to park in the street. Not aggressively enforced, but when complaints are received they do ticket.

Some recent news stories that cite the April 2019 parking ordinance:

Link below should begin with the local online news.com site that cannot be mentioned.

Grease the skids with the Developer prior to T V owning the neighborhood and ARC control and you can build RV garages, huge rec room/garage extensions, additional garages, and pools to cover almost every square inch of your property. Pretty much anything you want put up on your buildable land lot line in the "old" DeLuna.

One can see the "cabana" (RV garage) near the Water Lily Rec center area. One can also birdcage your whole back yard.
Straight across from the Water Lily Golf Cart bridge you can see the second anomaly of DeLuna housing designs that seem to defy ARC rules but doesn't. Wording is everything when implementing architectural design to fit ARC rules. Lots of perks if you plan ahead.

Is it what you know or who you know in T V that matters when making Dreams come true - asking for a friend.
