Any updated recommendations on true touchless car washes? I stopped at Sam's club and found that (according to the attendant on duty) theirs has brushes near the end of the wash.
By touchless, I mean nothing touches the car except water / soap / wax. I went to a "Touchless" car wash in Bradenton, FL and saw brushes inside. The attendant said "none of us touches the car". I told him that his definition was different than mine and got a refund. Thanks in advance! |

I just purchased a new Toyota and had a protectorate applied to the car. However I was told that I needed a brushless car wash. I would assume that the car wash with the floppy rubber thingees would be OK but not the brushes. Don't know if there is a car wash around here using those rubber things.
Sorry for my poor explanation. John

I don't see what good a "touchless" car wash would do? All you are doing is spraying soap and then water on it but not really "washing" off the dirt? Am I missing something? |

Sam's has two car washes one touchless and one with rubber cleaners. I found that the touchless did not do as good a job as the one with rubber cleaners. If i still lived up north I would stick with touchless. because the cause of scratches with was the grit picked up from melting snow that caused the damage. there is no snow here and hence less opportunity for debris to be caught up in the rubber cleaners.

A GOOD touchless car wash will clean the car quite well. I use them all the time if I can find them, otherwise it is a hand wash. The lousy ones leave a lot of dirt behind.

High end car dealers recommend washes with the rubber/material cleaners. The touchless washes use harsher chemicals that will damage the car's finish.

I use rain and windshield washer fluid as needed. I also drive under 30 mph so as to not disfigure love bugs on the front of my car. The results, no scratches in the paint and just a few dents from shopping carts at Walmart.

Here's the phone #(352) 751-5150 for Sams Club. The price depends on what type of wash/wax etc. you want. I want to say $6 is the basic one, but that seems really low. Wherever I have lived, I've used Sams because it is cheaper than the others. Whatever it is, it is less than the one advertised on the billboard on 441 with the "specials".
