Default Need leaky outdoor faucet repair

I have a leaky outdoor faucet. It seems like a simple job to fix it. Does anyone know of a reliable handyman they can recommended that can fix it. Thanks in advance.

I would call licensed plumber if I didn’t know how to do it myself. Plenty of Utube (depending on the type) videos on this. Not going to save that much IMO with Handyman who may or may not be qualified?

Many times a leaky faucet can be repaired with simple gasket replacements. I have not worked on any of the ones in the villages, but have done several in previous homes. IMHO, I would go to an ACE hardware store with a picture of your valve, and the age of the house, they seem to carry village specific parts. If you go the handyman route, ask if they have actually done this, otherwise the licensed plumber will be$75 to $100 to get to your house, and then the parts and labor.

The faucet probably has two washers, one in the body and one on the stem under the handle. Often, you can stop a stem leak by tightening the nut just below the handle. If the leak is in faucet body, you need to turn off the water and replace the washer. Another option is to buy a small metal valve and screw it onto the end of the spigot and use that valve to turn the water on and off. Having the second valve may also eliminate the water splash from the vacuum breaker.

My two cents worth. It is or should be a simple job. You can look on the internet, utube, and see what is involved. From the post, it sounds like you do not have the tools, a large wrench to tighten the packing-if that is the issue. To replace the washer you need to take the faucet apart-not a big job either. The villages it is likely you have plastic plumbing. It is possible to break the pipe. Be sure you know how to turn off your water.

If, you call a plumber, they of course charge you to drive over. Look around for other issues. It will be cheaper to do it now rather than call him again and pay him to come back

Of all the repair jobs, those outside faucets scare me.

I have one the squills when the water is turn on and I know it's a worn-out gasket,
but it doesn't leak when turned off thank god.

I heard horror Storys of people snaping the pipe off inside the wall trying to repair those aged pipes.

Note that the metal hose bibb is attached to a plastic pipe inside the wall. The hose bibb is anchored to the exterior wall with 2 screws. Before you put a wrench onto the hose bibb, make sure that the 2 screws are firming holding the hose bibb to the exterior wall. If not, you will most likely disengage the hose bibb from the plastic pipe and cause a leak inside the wall, and you will have a serious problem.
