I called my Garage Door repair tech, who have used in the past and found to be honest and reasonable, to replace my outside door opener key pad.
He told me that MVP want to have a business and they were used in the villages for about five years on new builds He said that he can no longer get parts and the only alternative is to get a new garage door opener with a new remote and keypads I looked on eBay and found some parts available, but not the outside keypad Has anyone else had this issue and were you able to get parts? |

I would suggest calling Ryan O'Cull, 352-207-5668. He may be able to provide replacement parts.
I have not tried to use a universal keypad. But the car I have was programmed by the dealer to operate my garage door with the built-in visor remote. So, I know it is possible to program a non-MVP remote to operate an MVP opener. |

Ryan told me that the MVP Allstar is better than all the newer openers because it’s all metal and built like a tank. It certainly sounds like a tank, but I’ll wait till it dies to replace it.

Silly question but what makes you think the outside keypad is bad? The last one I had up north had a battery inside of it but I have not checked this one yet? I have not experienced one go bad just the battery die or bad code entry?

Yes most parts are obsolete. MVP not all that great anyway cheap entry level. My house over 20 years old and has MVP been around lot longer than 5 years. Basically they got pass by with more quieter better units. Why the can’t compete. |

The Allstar MVP was made by Linear who still is in business. They just don’t make the Allstar MVP anymore. It’ll be interesting to see when they start failing in mass numbers between 466 and 44.

The communication board went bad in my MVP. Called Ryan and he told me it would be money better spent to replace the whole unit; besides you can't get parts. Ryan told me he was not replacing complete units. He then referred me to Scott's Garage Door Service for a new Chamberlin DC motor MyQ quite unit. Highly recommend Scott's.

I am also working on replacing a keypad for an MVP unit. In my case I bought the house from an estate. The battery wasn't changed in who knows how long and the acid rotted the unit hopelessly.
I agree you can't get parts, or at least not that part. Not available on amazon, ebay, or any on-line garage door opener parts supplier. However, a universal keypad should work provided it can operate at 318 MHz (some do, many don't, its old technology). I tried one , made by LOWOHO corporation and could not get it to work. Now I have purchased a unit from LPWPK corporation. If it works (or doesn't) I will post the result. I think it is probably a matter of stumbling upon the right asian manufacturer. |
