Default Musicals and Theatre in the Villages?

Hi Future TV Friends... My wife and I love watching AND performing in musicals-theatre! Having just seen a couple of posts on upcoming shows on TOTV we are super pumped for living in TV (by next summer). We would be pleased if you could post information on theatre groups, auditioning, performance space, expectations, production values, whatever! Thanks!

Hi! I am one of the posters on this subject so let me give you at least a starter. There are around 6 groups (maybe a couple more) that do various levels of musical theater. Many stage only reviews of various kinds, often staged around a theme, such as the recent "Broadway Sing and Play Along" which was a very good review. Primarily 3 groups stage book musicals, The Villages Musical Company, which is an official "club" of TV; Questar which is staging "White Christmas" at the end of November, and KC Productions. Questar and KC are private production companies rather than TV "clubs", I believe. Some of the groups recruit for their lead roles and then have auditions for chorus and secondary roles while others (The Villages Theater Company I know for sure) usually have open auditions. That is the case with "Carousel" which has open auditions in a week or so. There is a tremendous level of activity here! It seems that there are always 2,3 or more productions in rehearsal at the same time, and often productions going up within a few weeks or a month of each other. Your best source of information is from the weekly Recreation News which comes out every Thursday with The Daily Sun anc I believe you can get on-line. The District website also has a list of the clubs, which would include info on many of the groups performing. I think it can be accessed on line but I have not done it, so perhaps one of the other posters can post a link to it. Also others will weigh in on their thoughts and correct any statements I have made that may not be 100% accurate. You will love it here and your biggest problem may be figuring out how to juggle your rehearsal schedule with other things you will find to do! At least that's our biggest problem!
