When we were looking for a mover we noticed that another couple from Clifton Park were using Mabey Movers who have been long established in the Capital area. We were from Waterford right next to Clifton Park. To make a long story shorter we both wind up going through this organization for our moving needs.

Mabey works with Atlas Movers and in checking with the other couple we learned that everything went well. We contracted with Mabey/Atlas and had most items boxed for when they arrived. They packed what we didn't, mostly larger pictures and then loaded their semi vehicle, taking an inventory as they went along.

We moved down in October and they arrived ahead of when they anticipated they would and on the day after my wife arrived and were at our home when I later arrived. The only things that were broken that we are aware of are items we packed ourselves.

Knowing what we now know, we would hire them again. You can contact them if you wish and they will come to your home to give you an estimate without a commitment. At least I would think they will go up to your neck of the woods!

Here's their website address: http://www.mabeys.com/about.html

BTW, they weight their semi trailer before they arrive to load then weight it again afterword. That's how they calculate the final fee you get charged. When you get an estimate and fee is based on the weight, it could go up substantially like ours did, but not necessarily. We were underestimated by about 25%. Didn't surprise us though. Esitmating was difficult since we had so much to consider and we weren't even sure of everything going at the time of the estimate!

Thanks Skyguy. We will be interviewing a few to get a feel for the company. It's always good to get a few estimates as well.

Folks moving from the NYC/Long Island area may want to give Verity Van Lines good consideration. We used them when we moved from Nassau Co to TV. Very professional and very reliable. We packed some stuff by ourselves but on the day of the move they came and packed all the remaining items and everything arrived in TV undamaged, safe and sound.

VERITY VAN LINES is located in Seaford, NY and Lindenhurst, NY with an office in Palm Beach, FL. A good pipeline to FLorida.

You were much kinder than I would have been. my husband would have voiced his opinion and made them get in gear. They are already getting paid for the job and I'm not sure a tip is an order? How about a swift kick if they don't? Anyhow, there's a company out of Albany called Maybe's and I think that's who we are going with. Thank for telling your experience. Moving companies are a shot in the dark. I just hope my stuff makes it safely, mostly my car!! We aren't shipping hardly any furniture. Will buy new. Glad all worked out for you in the end.

You better check on this. To my knowledge The Villages DOES NOT have their own movers. There is a company called "Village Movers" that caters to The Villages, but is not owned by them. When the movers store your things, you won't be able to get to them either.

Sounds good, but I think you got your information wrong.

Default Moveing Company

Just moved to The Villages from Stony Brook N.Y. Used Atlas Van Lines. They were on time.there workers were very good. Nothing was broken and nothing was damaged in the house while they were loading the truck. Highly recommend.

Happinow. Call George Johnson...at TV Relocation. He will arrange for a couple different guys to come in and give quotes. We have just had the second today. We had Mayflower come out Friday and today Atlas. Of course it is the local guys who actually do the packing.

Go with the Villages Relocation Service. You won't be sorry. We used United through the Villages service and were completely satisfied. The movers they use work to maintain their profitable relationship with The Villages.
