There is also some kind of comedy club in that theaters lobby.
No no no, and no. We do not want the cost of running movie theaters.

But, but, but that poster’s premise was that once these money losing theaters were turned over to the recreation department they would magically make a profit. I’m not sure I follow that logic 😂😂😂

He said break even but do not see how that can be achieved.

I will wait until I can rent it online although I love the big screen and acoustics.

However, I am 10 min from Brownwood.

Developer: PLEASE REOPEN THIS THEATRE. WE HAVE THOUSANDS MORE PEOPLE SOUTH OF 44 AND WE NEED THIS THEATRE.

I just don't get it. It is already there and had been in use until Covid. It will bring people to Brownwood square to spend $ at the restaurants etc. You have tons of golf courses but here is something we really need and you only have a movie theatre in Sumter landing.....
I am revisiting his or her first post.

The point is to open the Brownwood movie theater and movie patrons do often spend money before or after the film at businesses surrounding the movie theater.

I do not see anything about breaking even or a profit. Again. This is an attraction for the businesses and for the Villages and not another Burger King. Even though some of my family members had some Burger King on Monday.

I have to say you LOVE beating a dead horse. IF the movie houses made money for the developer they WOULD be OPEN. There is still one open AND it is not full all the time. The Championship courses DO MAKE A PROFIT!! The EXECS do NOT make a profit they are owned and run by the district governments.

It is not about profit! It is about having that attraction for home owners. And they highlighted having THREE movie theaters in their literature ever since the Barnstorm opened.

They only had the Rialto here when we moved here in June of 2005. The Old Mill Playhouse opened around November of 2005. Barnstorm probably a few years after the Old Mill Playhouse opened.

And some of the big movie openings were sold out. At every theater they had one of these.

The current advertising specifies one theater. My guess is not 3% of Villagers moved here for a move theater. Brownwood s closed and not reopening.

There is a sign at the theater that it is permanently closed. Mark Morse stated that there are no plans to reopen the theater.
