Absolutely. I have a problem deciding where to go around here because I've not taken the opportunity to find really good roads. Although I do like going up Route 42 towards Daytona Beach and the Ocala National Forest!

I plan to take a two day trip down to route 41 between Naples and Miami next week. US 41 in that west to east run is truly wild Florida at its best. I will ride down to the Naples area and spend the night then cross slowly over the 41 route looping north just before the traffic of Miami and head back to The Villages. Let me know and I will keep you posted on date and hotel information.

There are many nice roads in all directions around here to ride. Ocala National Forest has been mentioned, head south on 301 to the Coleman area. Rt. 41 through Floral City area back to Bushnell.

I am leaving about May 6 and taking a leisurely ride to California, stopping at the Alamo, Big Bend National Park, Carlsbad Caverns and who knows where else. From there doing the Run for the Wall in D.C. a 10 day trek across the country remembering the POW/MIA and bringing to light veteran's issues. and then probably take the auto train home. May 15 - 24, 2013 : Run For The Wall Motorcycle Event: We ride for those who can't : POW-MIA

Willing to carry any letters, notes or small items to be left at The Wall. I'll try to put some updates and photos on Face Book.

This is one of the reasons we came down here is to be able to ride 365 days. My other half also has 3 antique bikes. 75 Ducati,74 Honda (i think 74) and 70 something Yamaha. I like our 04 Softail the best. More comfy for me!

Are there any sportbike riders in The Villages that enjoy a spirited ride? Where are the smooth twisty roads around central Florida?

I ride to RTE's (ride to eat) with the GL1800riders, called the Florida Prowlers. We're a loose-knit group with no dues, no meetings and no officers. Just a bunch of mostly retired Motorcyclists who meet at different locations in central Florida for lunch or breakfast. You don't need to own a Goldwing. I don't. Go to GL1800Riders, slide down to Focus Groups (Florida).

I just bought a house in the Village of Pinellas. I have a sport- touring bike and I definitely enjoy spirited rides. I was thinking of starting a sport touring club for spirited riders who enjoy short and long riding days and overnight trips. I have motorcycled in Georgia and North Carolina and I think that might be a nice destination ride if we have a week or so. I am in the process of selling my house up in New Hampshire, but I hope to be down here here fulltime in three or four months. I have a BMW R1200RT.

In regard to twisty roads around here I don't know if there are any, but there are some scenic roads out to Daytona from the Villages and I see some other scenic roads noted on the map. I just came down from St Augustine by car
on some nice back roads. They were mostly straight, but they offer some pleasant riding. Nothing is twistier, though, than those roads up around Deals Gap in North Carolina!

I have a BMW K1200LT. You'd be surprised how many twisty roads and hills are in central Florida. It's one of the reasons I moved here. I've also rode NC, Deals Gap and love North Georgia.

If you start a club, "they will come." Don't know how "spirited" I am, though.

Forget the "spirited part" that was an after thought. Going places and enjoying the roads is what it is all about. I am really looking forward to getting down here. I haven't decided how I am going to get the bike down here yet, but I am leaning towards riding it down and parking it in the garage after we close on the house and then flying back to NH. I can't wait!

It sounds like we have some interest in a new motorcycle club. You also would be someone we would like to have lead us on a ride on these twisty, hilly roads in central Florida.

I too have an R1200RT. I found some nice roads between Bushnel and FLoral City. West of Inverness there are some nice roads. Howie in the Hills area offers some very nice riding through the Orange Groves. I will be gone most of the month of May but PM me and maybe some of can get together in June.
