Interesting. Who is your provider? We only had sporadic surges in St. Catherine.

Leesburg electric. They are our gas and electric. Don’t ask me why, something the developer set up. And yes, our municipality is Wildwood.

Power was out in Pine Hills for about 14 hours. We also are serviced by Leesburg Electric. They are terrible. Power goes out every time weather is bad.

28,000 on the map with no power? Not sure if all were the Villages or what

The following is being forwarded at the request of Kenny Blocker…

" As units of local government, the Village Community Development Districts are eligible for reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for storm debris collection resulting from Hurricane Helene.

Our debris removal process is now in motion. Each of your Boards has contracted with debris haulers and a monitor for services following natural disasters.

This team is assembling onsite to perform a community-wide assessment, alongside District Staff and consultants. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

To facilitate efficient debris removal, the public will be advised of the following:

Place all storm-related yard debris curbside on residential property.
Do NOT place storm-related debris in roadways.
Do NOT use plastic bags for storm-related debris. Leave it unbagged or use paper biodegradable bags only.

It is important to note that there is a crucial difference between storm-related debris and regular yard maintenance waste. Only storm-related debris will be collected during this special pickup.

Storm debris eligible for special pickup includes items directly damaged or displaced by the hurricane, such as fallen tree branches, uprooted shrubs, broken fences, and roofing materials torn off by high winds.
In contrast, regular yard maintenance waste, which is not eligible for this special collection, includes routine grass clippings, pruned branches from regular trimming, seasonal leaf fall, and hedge trimmings from normal landscaping activities. Please continue to dispose of regular yard waste through normal sanitation procedures.

We appreciate your patience during this challenging time. Resources are stretched thin due to the widespread damage from Hurricane Helene, followed closely by Hurricane Milton.

Our team is committed to restoring The Villages to its pre-storm condition as quickly as possible. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work through this recovery process together."

Something the developer set up? The Developer created SECO, Leesburg electric, and possibly Duke Energy then divided the Villages between them?

Or is it just possible that the power companies existed and when the Developer built the homes they were connected to the company that "owned" the particular area?

It would be kind of silly to think the developer made a power company. I never said that, but you brought it up. No, the developer built the infrastructure and found the closest cheapest connection of course. Duke connected to half the village and Leesburg connected to the other. It was connected in phases of construction.

don't count on TV to own up to it or back it either.

We just had our roof inspected with lots of damage. The roofer said that these shingles should have never come off. The winds here were not that strong. Everyone in the neighborhood had typical damage.

Apparently the ARC has to approve your roof replacement. How the heck are they going to handle thousands of requests in a timely manner!!!

THOUSANDS of roofs in The Villages?

The roofing scam continues and our insurance continues to rise.

About the only ones making money out this hurricane, will be sleazy roofing contractors and compliant homeowners, who want something for nothing.

How many utilities provide services to the Villages?

I have Duke for electricity and Leesburg for gas.

I have also heard of SECO electric and Leesburg electric.

What do other people have?

Is there a map showing the utility providers for each area?

That’s a great question. Apparently at least those 3. When I got on Leesburg it showed a map of outages here inside the Villages as well as elsewhere. After this outage we are going to go ahead and just buy a generator . We don’t want another 14 hour power outage. They are kind of ugly, but the circuit box can be fitted in the garage so all most will see is just the generator. Does anyone know if ARC needs to be involved?

That’s great now I just have to figure out how to get a 45’ tree out to the road. Hopefully I won’t have to cut it up.
Ok one has to have a warped sense of humor when you have a 45’ foot tree sitting on your roof and in your pool, destroying the birdcage.

We are in Hillsborough and have SECO. We never lost power during Milton, nor during Irma. We are pretty happy with them.

I was just told the gazebo at Sumter Landing is gone from Milton.

Has any one been there to see?

I would disagree as there are at least six homes on our short street in Lake Deaton that lost many, many roof shingles. Look at the picture taken of some that I lost (many not pictured) and also look at the roof above the black solar screen of the house across the street that lost many. And, they are not even on our street. I will be very happy to have my roof fixed before the next rain/wind event.
