Default Large Uhaul Truck parking?

Have the largest size U-haul truck to bring items to house and need to park overnight. Will not get to house until evening/night and will not be unloading until the following morning. Is it Ok to leave truck on the street?

IMHO, I would try the driveway, I have seen contractors trailers occasionally parked overnight. Now you did not state your location, if this is a villa where I do not believe you can do this, private narrow roads are involved. If you are not in a villa, you may be able to do this. I would call the local police department for confirmation. As for your next question about where you could park overnight, I would suggest calling around to the local storage facilities.

Unless it's a villa the truck should fit in the driveway, if you think it will stick out onto the street bring a couple orange cones or reflectors with you, if it's only for one night you should not have a problem, I've never heard of anyone having a moving truck towed away.

Someone mentioned to me recently that you are able to get permission to park at Rec Centers within The Villages.

I have seen people parking u-haul trucks for one night overnight in rec center parking lots. In particular I see it at Saluki which is walking distance from some of the newly built neighborhoods, if that happens to be you are.

I don’t know if it’s allowed or if permission is needed. But I see it regularly,

Thanks for the replies. Any concerns/risks re driveway parking with damaging driveway? The largest U-Haul truck has an empty weight of 13K lbs and there will be approximately 8K lbs of contents. Thanks.

From the search engine machine:

A 4-inch concrete driveway can support weights up to approximately 6,000 pounds. A 5-inch concrete driveway can support weights up to approximately 10,000 pounds. A 6-inch concrete driveway can support weights exceeding 12,000 pounds, depending on the specific design and construction.

Keeping in mind that A) newer driveways do not fully cure for months, and B) one would be lucky to get an even 4-inch pour. You won't find 6-inch except for places like gas station islands at truck stops, etc. Most typical cars are about 2000-4000 pounds.

Wouldn’t that fall under the three day rule same as RVs? I would think parking U-haul truck be ok beings everybody moved in either used U-Haul , pods, or 18wheeler. O wait, I forgot about neighbors that’s ok for them to do it but don’t let anyone else .

When we moved in I had a 35 foot ABF truck trailer pack full dropped off on our driveway, no damage whatsoever.

That would depend on the weight distribution per wheel.

Our house is 5 years old so there is probably not the cure concern. I do think the depth is minimal in the range suggested.

I once had a towing operator who was reluctant to place his 6,000 lb GW on our driveway. We sometimes see overnight parking at the local/community pool. I doubt anyone would object if for only a night or two.

Unless your driveway is textured with a design you shouldn’t have issues. Our drive was 3 months old, Pod and Uhaul no damage. Depending on what village you live determines street parking. Park at your neighborhood pool, after 11pm pick up before 6am. It’s very common especially in new villages. We have no parking on streets after 10pm, and yes they have issued tickets, especially for landscaping/pool guys who leave equipment for multiple days.

We brought the uhaul to the house at 1am had it unloaded by 6am to go to breakfast. Wildwood PD stopped at 3am, to say HI, and probably make sure we weren’t removing appliances from a newly built home. We Offered a coffee, and have basically waved to the same few guys every morning around 4am for the last 2 years.
I would travel between our two homes in TV in the wee hours bringing car load and putting it away. It was nice seeing a patrol car driving the streets in a new neighborhood with very few occupied homes.

No worries if you are moving between the 6’s. You won’t see a patrol car for weeks. But community watch may drive by while you are unloading rarely stop to check what’s going on.

Street parking is totally legal, as mentioned, up to 3 days. We have a premier on a view lot, driveway was far to short to park our packed full 26’ U-Haul in the driveway without blocking half the street. I did park it best I could on a 45 degree in the driveway when it came time to unload, still blocked 1/4 of the street. I took a gamble of the truck not causing any driveway damage, and won! But there will be a chance of causing damage if your truck’s heavy.
