Kane's has a slogan "Quality So Good It Is Guaranteed For Life." Don't believe it!!! We contacted the Ocala store in January to report our power recliner sofa was not working (we had it for a year and therefor still under warranty). According to the store, the first available technician's appointment was three weeks out. The technician arrived in early February and indicated a new motor would need to be ordered...well it is now May and we have made countless phone calls and NO REPAIR nor any offer to replace the furniture. Today, the customer service representation said, "technically it's only been 88 days since our technician was there and it can take up to 90 days to hear from the CHINESE manufacturer of the motor." REALLY? You also told us on the sales tag that the furniture was made in the USA. False advertising? False claims about quality and guarantees? Yes, everything about Kane's is false if you have a problem. They are the least customer responsive provider we have ever had to deal with. My advice...DON'T BUY FROM KANES. If anything goes wrong, oh well that's too bad. They have your money and frankly they just don't care if you have a problem or not. SHAME ON YOU KANE's.

We have purchased a lot from Kane and the experiences have been exceptional. They delivered when they said the would deliver and if there was an issue they took the piece back and either replaced it or gave us full refund quickly. We haven't purchased anything in the last 6 months so maybe things have changed, but our experience prior to that was nothing like the previous posters experienced. I post this because like most things on here, there are experiences that differ.

I checked with the Better Business Bureau and they have 438 complaints against them and quite a bit of complaint feedback on the internet as well. The piece in question wasn't even delivered as we refused it on the delivery because of defect and they still refuse to give us our refund or exchange. They want to take 40% off as a restocking fee. Maybe they have different managers in charge now from when you had your experience.

We have lived in FL for over 12 years. Kane's has had the reputation of being one of the worst furniture retailers. They are all over FL and did not get that way by being the best. Our understanding is that their drivers are (or were) paid by the number of pieces they deliver and that you accept. The driver's job is to get you to take the piece, so they are either cleaning it up (making it looked fixed/undamaged) in the truck or talking you into accepting a damaged piece (that they will "take care of"). We remember many complaints about their leather goods. For many years the word "bonded" was not used and most all their leather is bonded leather. Looks good, but does not hold up over time. They also buy directly from (mostly Asian) manufacturers, so the furniture models turn over quickly, (with an inability to replace with same models or get matching pieces). Look up the complaints on the internet and buyers beware.

Kane's in Ocala is a treat to walk through. Haven't bought much there to comment.

I wonder how they compare to Rooms To Go or City Furniture.

The original Kane's opened in 1947 on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. I remember because my dad owned a laundromat next door. When I was in the 4th and 5th I had to spend a part of my summer there and would often go into Kane. They had great emploees. The old 6-1/2 small coke bottles were a nickel and they would let me go into the break room anytime and buy a coke.
Jump ahead to 2011. When we moved here we needed a lot of furniture. We want a leather love seat that was motorized, once you've owned a motorized seat you won't go back. We received a 10% off coupon in the mail from Kane's. Then we went to Ocala and walked through Kane's, Rooms to Go and Blockers, they're almost side-by-side. First, Rooms to Go only only had motorized couches, no loveseats. I had a motorized couch before and didn't like having only one arm support. At Blockers we found some beautiful motorized loveseats but they all ran between $1300 to $1700. Next at Kane's they had many motorized love seats between $1000 to $1500. We bought one that was $1100 and with the coupon it was only a $1000. After about two years of use the motor quit working. I called them and as with the OP, it was 3 weeks before a repairman could come. They did say I could try and put batteries in the little transformer box that's in the electric cord. It took a few AA batteries and the motor worked but was slow. Three weeks later the repairment showed up and took a look, then went to his truck and got a new transformer box and it worked perfect like before and has worked ever since then. As posted above the leather doesn't hold up as well as I would of liked, we may try some other stores next time in Leesburg such as Whites, Babettes, Hudson and Babcock. |

We purchased a reclining massage sofa, the motor went out 8 months later. Technician came out orders parts meanwhile 2 months past still no parts. I talked to a associate she said she got noticed it should arrive 12-01-15. In January still no part. I ask for a replacement or to take the part from another sofa I was told NO! 5 months into the waiting and a very smart mouth named Kimberly they fixed the sofa. Lasted 5 weeks same part went out again! Same story. They have No customer service what so ever. STAY AWAY

Motorized and China seem to be a troublesome connection. No surprise there.
