Default Iphone Blocking Area Code with a few exceptions

Anyone know of a way to block an entire area code except for a few specific numbers in that same code...Iphone?

I have mine blocking any number that is not in my contact list.

Settings -> Phone -> Silence Unknown Callers

Not quite what you asked for but might work for you.

Bill14564 has the right idea very simple to set up.
Trying to block every number in an area code you may not want good luck.

How many 7 digit numbers are possible in a single area code?
8,000,000
= 8,000,000. Therefore, according to the condition that the first digit cannot be either 1 or 0, we can have 8,000,000 possible ways of creating a seven-digit area code.

You can block an area code on your iPhone by following these steps:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Scroll down and tap on "Phone".
Tap on "Blocked Contacts".
Tap on "Add New...".
Enter the area code that you want to block.
Tap on "Block Contact".
Repeat the process for any other area codes that you want to block.

Once you have added the area code to the blocked contacts list, any calls or messages from that area code will be automatically blocked and you will not receive any notifications for them.

Yes that works but could possibly have some bad consequences with that. Example, someone in your family has an emergency and is taken to the hospital and someone (cop, ER doc, hospital office or whatever) tried to call you, you will never know until you check your voicemail maybe hours later You can use that example filling in the possibilities with many other circumstances of someone trying to contact you in an emergency with a "strangers" (unlisted in your contacts) phone number. Chances may be slim but it's possible.

That works for me. I would normally screen calls anyway and rarely would answer a call from a number I didn't recognize. This way, the call goes to voicemail sooner and I don't have to listen to any ringing. With notifications of voicemails and voice-to-text translations it is easy to see if I missed anything important.

I do the same thing with my Samsung phone by setting the phone on "do not disturb" with an exception for numbers in my contact list. I also have an exception for calls that are repeated within 15 minutes, so if someone calls twice within 15 minutes, the call will go through. I leave my phone on these settings all the time and it has solved my telemarketing call problem.

I downloaded a free app from Verizon called call filter . Silences calls not in my contact list . It will only go to voicemail if you’re not in my contacts . You can choose to block these calls or allow for the future .

I have an App named True Caller… it catches a lot of spam callers and when the call it will say Potential Spam. I don’t answer and if they do not leave a message I know it was spam and I block that number. I would never want to block all numbers not in my contact list that would be dumb. Nor would I want to block an entire area code… dum also. Spam callers are a real PIA.

I use an app named NumberShield. It has drastically reduced my spam calls. I did block an entire area code.
