I recommend Tim Bascom to all my clients. He is Allstate but is a broker to many companies. He has never failed me yet (352) 753-1177

[QUOTE=kp11364;2251319]Hi all,
What home insurance companies are left in Florida? Are they writing policies for new owners? Can/will my realtor help out with getting a policy, or should I reach out to an insurance broker directly as I am looking (and if that's the case, any recommendations?) Contact Jessica Pendry at Sarasota Insurance Group Inc 6170 State Road 70 E Suite 102 Bradenton, FL 34203 (941)400-8104 She’ll find you the best deal she can. I’ve used her with two houses. |

We go through the Villages Insurance. They represents several companies and try to find you the best deal. For us, it was Travelers. Very few people in The Villages have flood insurance. Are you sure you want to get it???

USAA is expensive. New Hyundai cost me $1180 for 6 months.

Do this. We used HH Insurance in St Pete and are very happy with our rate.

It true. If you are not in a flood zone you still need it. You don’t need to be by a river or a lake either. If your agent doesn’t recommend it they don’t know about it. It really is a question of need or want.

Homeowner's insurance does not cover damage if we have heavy rains in a short time frame and water enters the home -- only flood insurance will cover that damage.

My car insurance (one vehicle 6 yrs the other 10+) from $850 to $1100 to $1,300 to almost $1,800 for the period just renewed. I’ve looked at coverages and deductibles - and I could maybe shave $100-$200 off but the trade offs are somewhat significant.
Other than only doing 1 car which is not practical for us right now, I’ve looked at some other quotes maybe slightly better but not significantly so. Yes, agree getting expensive. |

Yesterday, Gov. DeSantis said three more insurers are coming to Florida, but, didn’t say which ones

Well to me Florida is probably 2/3rds to 1/2 surrounded by water where hurricanes thrive & where Ins. companies get a lot of their business. I would say Florida is probably where 95 to 99% of hurricanes starts & when hurricanes tear up Florida every one pays the damages, don’t believe me just wait & see if 90% of Ins. rates go up even if your state never gets any kind of disaster!

Reason for that probably has to do more with Hyundai being one of the most stolen cars in America.
