Default Ideas for Social Club Activities

Our neighborhood social club is looking for ideas for non-dinner/dance events that could be held at a rec center. We’ve done regular bingo, music bingo and trivia. All fun and worth a repeat, but we’d like to spinkle in some other events that would work with a group. Perhaps some type of game or ? If you have a suggestion, it would be helpful if you could also provide contact info for a person or group that coordinates the activity. Thanks.

People often attend to meet new friends. Perhaps soft music so those who wish to dance can do so but every so often couples move to a new table to meet each other or something that includes the moving around.

Response. We have taught a course in beginning chess at Bacall. There will be another session soon. If you would contact any Rec center and have them schedule it, we will gladly present it. We currently teach chess at other facilities, it is fun, good for the mind and stimulating. Great to share with family members, children grandchildren so think about it and PM us here at the TOTV.
There are other chess groups, but his would be only for learning and beginners. Thank you bbbbbb

Soft music? What is that? I like music, but every event I have attended, the music is so loud that I stay about 5 minutes and go home because my ears hurt and I can't hear what the person next to me is saying.

We are with you on this. It seems the trends now are noise and more noise? Noise means quality? We cannot stand most of the Square sessions, walk by and keep on walking for sure. On the movie Dunkirk, we stuffed Kleenex in our ears and still could not stand it. Talked to the movie manager, she seemed to think it was fine. We will not enter that theater again, sorry but that is so sad. Wish it were not so.

You could do a scavenger hunt or poker run. You could have a guest speaker. Take a bus trip to someplace for dinner or show.

There are other clubs that do programs....one that is always interesting is the Magic Club but there are others. Check the list of clubs on the District site for ideas.
