I have an unopened 2 qt. bottle of vegetable cooking oil that expired in 2018. How should I dispose of it. I hate to just drop the bottle in the trash.

The vegetable oil itself is bio-degradable. It is the darn bottle that will last forever. Just do not pour down the drain!

Not helpful. Just put it in the trash, bottle and all. After years of recycling, it looks like everything will end up in the trash (garbage) anyway.

I pour it in a plastic bag that is already in the trash or recycle bin. I take some used napkins and put in which soaks up the oil, Kudos to you for caring!

Many restaurants will allow you to put it in their oil recycling container. Used is typically recycled for fuel or in such things as dog food.
Even an auto store may take it and put in their used motor oil recycling. |

Give it to a truck driver - vegetable oil works fine in Diesel engines

YOUR ANSWER IS BELOW. YOU WILL HAVE TO COPY PASTE MY LINKS INTO YOUR BROWSER. I DO NOT HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO POST LINKS ON THIS SITE SO I DID NOT INCLUDE THE URL FULL PATH.
The Villages does not have a Cooking Oil Recycle program. However, if you live in Sumpter or Lake County you can recycle cooking oil at one of their Recycle Centers: If you live in Sumpter County you can recycle at one of their collection sites. WEB SEARCH FOR: budgetdumpster Don’t Pour Oil Down the Drain. Pouring oil down the drain or toilet causes clogs in your home plumbing system and contributes to larger clogs in the municipal lines that can cause thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. Oil and grease may be liquid when hot but will cool in your pipes, congealing and gathering other oil particles in the pipes. As the grease collection grows, it will prevent water from flowing through and causing it to back up into your kitchen and bathroom. The right way to dispose of grease is simple; throw it in your trash can. Follow these steps to avoid pouring hot grease directly in your garbage: 1) Let the oil or grease cool and solidify. 2) Once cool and solid, scrape the grease into a container that can be thrown away. 3) When your container is full, place it in a plastic bag to prevent leakage and then throw it in the garbage. 4) Once you’re rid of the majority of the grease, use a paper towel to wipe down all pots, pans and dishes that came into contact with the oil before rinsing them in the sink. Even small amounts of leftover grease are dangerous to your plumbing because it will build up over time. |

What a waste to dump it. It's perfectly good. If it smells off (some people say it smells like crayons!), It is most likely a sell buy date. Do what your mom did before the bs of dates on everything
Smell it. It's only 2020. |
