I have just started shooting and would like to continue when we move next month. Is there a good outdoor range or club near the villages?
Looking for a club that likes to teach since I only have a few hundred rounds so far. |

Shooters world is a popular indoor range. There is another one on 44 but do not know anything about it.

Shooters World is a first class indoor range. The range on Rt 44 is also a good indoor range, but nowhere near as modern as Shooters World. If you want to use an outdoor range, I think you need to go to Ocala.

Shooters World has everything you could want, even a bar, which I find very strange.
There is also a shooters club in The Villages. |

The gun shop inc, no ac, but fans. Not fancy and new. $50 for you and a partner to shoot. Unlimited time. (Not charged by the hr like shooters world) We chose the gun shop inc to sight in a new optic. It was fine for what it was. I was out of there in 1hr and 15 minutes. So sighted in my new optic for $50. Shooters world because i went over a hour would have been around $110! If i was bringing someone from out of town out shooting to impress them i would go to shooters world. Hope this helps. Neither include ammo. Both places require range/target ammo. No green tip etc. |

The Outpost Gun Range is the best I’ve found anywhere close and it’s a drive. Located in Lecanto east of Inverness. Facility is first rate. Very nice concrete firing line with cover. Firing lanes are numbered on firing line and target line. Pistol range is separate from rifle. Also has shotgun range, indoor archery and a completely completion range for pistol and rifle. Rifle range has target lines at 25,50, 100, 200,300,600 yards. Various member levels and a wide assortment of classes. Enough range officials to control shooting times and safety. Very strict. Very nice restroom facilities, parking and handicapped spaces. Allowed to shoot factory and reloads with nets at firing stations to catch your ejected brass. Qualification is required before using 200 yd and farther lanes.

You can shoot all day & with different guns. Drill on their website & it lists Classes as well as concealed carry permit class. There is also a Sportsman’s Warehouse in the Villages. No range but good merchandise (Shooters World also has good stock). Last edited by Grinchie; 08-06-2024 at 06:29 AM. Reason: 10 per card. Correct price quoted. |

The Villages also has 3 outdoor air gun ranges, and an air gun club. The ranges are located at Rio Grande, Soaring Eagle, and Sugar Cane. Each range holds weekly competition shoots, and they are open shoot during non-competition times. Use of the ranges is free for Villages residents, but are limited (of course) to air rifles & pistols.
