Question in-ground jacuzzi installed in lanai

Has anyone had an in-ground (small) jacuzzi installed in their lanai? I don't mean in a birdcage beyond the lania, but actually in the lanai. We were able to expand our lanai to 12ish ft but are not able to put anything beyond that since we back up against a "special easement" that extends 20ft to the back of our property. We are not complaining - we love our lot - but wondered if anyone has had this done.

Thanks!

Ours is located in an expanded cage outside of our bedroom, not under cover of the lanai. Have you talked with anyone about it, like the people at T&D? They install lots of spas and pools around here and do a fine job.

Something to consider....spas take up space, above or in the ground and it will give you less outdoor space. What will be more important, the spa, which can feel really good after a day of outdoor activity, or the space for entertaining.

When a house around here has an outdoor spa or pool, the doors to the lanai have the handles up high. Not sure if that's for code regulations. Will you have little ones spending lots of time with you? Our house came with alarms on the doors and windows that face the lanai. The door opens and the alarm sounds....annoying, but a good thing when there are little ones around. They quickly learn how to open sliding glass doors and are outside in the blink of an eye.

We have a large lanai with a 14' x 30' pool and had T&D add a small spa to it. They did a get job with removing the birdcage, tearing up the area needed for the new spa, building the spa and then restoring the birdcage. Whole process took less than six weeks. We picked an area on the lanai that would not restrict our use of the lanai and also allowed us to have a spillover into the pool. But if I had it to do over we would have done it differently. Since we had the pool we were fixed on a concrete spa. We never considered a fiberglas spa and after the fact have seen a couple of pools with a fiberglas spa that look just as nice as ours but cost about $4,000 less to install.

Pooh, spk7951,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We are looking to put something small in the covered lanai to cool of in the summer and warm up in the winter. I would love to have a pool, but we have no room. We are looking at a WaterWell from Endless Pools. It's a combo exercise pool/spa. You can even have a treadmill installed so that you can run underwater. I just had a hip replacement (which is fabulous) and have an arthritic knee that I've been told not to run on :-( so I am looking for some alternatives.

Has anyone installed an Endless Pool? The WaterWell is a fairly new product. Any thoughts from the ALMIGHTY WISDOM OF TOTV

I just love TOTV and all of you - sooooo much information. What other city in the world has something like this?

That's a pretty interesting spa and seems it would be perfect for your situation. The underwater treadmill is really neat! Does the spa come in various sizes?

Having used T&D for all the years we've been here, I'm partial to them, but this particular water well is something I'd consider if I were to just be putting in a water exercise system.

Congratulations on the new hip! I'm sure it has made quite a difference in your life!

I would suggest that you go visit the T&D store on 466. They have a swim spa in the store that might be in line with what you are looking for. It is fiberglas and I believe the dimensions are 5" x 12". It has a current at one end that you can swim into or you can use it as a spa or just plane float in it. We had asked about it back in 2008 and they told us then it would cost $12,000 installed with filter and birdcage. I would also suggest adding solar panels to help heat it during the cooler months. Happy shopping!

Default Cuurent Price on Swim Spa at T&D is $20,000 - $25,000

with what they called a very simple birdcage.
I just got this price on August 6th when we stopped by to see
one and asked about the cost.

Lee and Richard in Tampa for now.

Plus, we were told by T&D that to heat this to hot tub temperatures it would require gas heat. If your house is all-electric, they would have to add underground propane tanks.

That is a pretty small pol 5 inches by 12 inches

I would think that you could do better than 12,000 on that size spa
