Default Golf Car Purchase Question

Do new golf cars ordered through The Villages Golf Car stores sell at MSRP or is the price negotiable (like buying a new car)?

Thx,
First Time Golf Car Buyer

Never heard of a MSRP for a golf cart, IMHO, you can go to a few stores for comparative prices, or as others will suggest, buy out of the area, and then add the accessories you want.

Supply and Demand - they don’t negotiate on price. The cart is custom, so if you dont like their price, the next guy who walks in the door will take the base cart that would have been yours.
You can get carts cheaper at other places.

It's not like buying a new car. But, as far as I know, it is still a free country where you can make an offer on just about anything. I would suggest comparing prices outside of The Villages, such as Webster, FL.

I don't think you'll have much luck "negotiating" with The Villages Golf Cars. They understand that most Villagers will buy from them for the sake of convenience.

I bought my cart from I-4 Power Equipment in Webster Fl. I saved around 3K. To save that I had to, one time, drive to Webster, which is maybe 20-30 minutes south of the intersection of 466A and 301, in Wildwood. I test drove it, and decided on options. They delivered it to my door. I have had the cart 3 years. Both yearly services were done by them, at my door. No problems.

There was no negotiating 12 years ago at The Villages Golf Cars. However, there was a $250.00 off special at that time. I'm sure that's long gone.

There was no negotiation before supply shortages and a long waiting list to get a cart. Definitely no wiggle room now.

The other thing, sometimes the manufacturers run specials, i.e. Yamaha might run 12 months free financing or $1000 rebate.

Probably not this year. Most golf course/country clubs put off purchase/lease of golf carts from 2020/2021 to 2022.

No negotiation, carts are going as fast as houses now.

Not much different than buying a new house, here is the price and if you don’t buy it the next person will. We saved about $3000 going to the Village discount gold cart store. Still able to pick it up and drive it home as they are adjacent to The Villages.

Drive it home? How do they have access to TV. Map looks like they are adjacent to, but not TV accessible.

when I was looking 6 months ago this is what I found out -

1) that's not MSRP, it's a 'package' so that's the price
2) you can try looking around nearby, that's all. and I found same results - carts are in high demand and you will pay for it
3) you can't buy out of area - apparently everyone was doing that and Villages golf cart whined to Yamaha - result is should you be found buying (it's now monitored closely) a cart from someone out of state etc, they lose Yamaha. The "good people' that run this networked money grab have pushed Yamaha into snooze you lose territory and obviously have enough money on hand to push their way around other companies.
4) best advice - find a super decent USED one somewhere else, never mention the villages ever, and if you want a new one trade it in here. but be warned once they find out you live in the villages it's over they won't sell to you.

I tried 6 different dealers found by leads for carts at a better price than here - every one said exactly the same thing - Sorry you live in the villages we can't sell to you otherwise we lose our yamaha dealership.

good luck.

We’ve bought every one of our carts from Carts and Clubs in Ocala. Cheaper and great service!
