Sorry if this was discussed here before, I did a search without finding anything.
I would like to add a sliding garage door screen, not the power rollup kind. Who installs them around our area? What brand works the best without getting hung-up? Are some with rollers top and bottom for easy closing? You reply would be much appreciated. Thank You |

Anyone else have slider screens on their garage that can give me some advice?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We chose a slider over the rool-up type mainly because we go in and out of our house multiple times duriing the day through the garage and just sliding 1 panel 2 feet over was a lot easier than waiting for a 16' wide screen to roll all the way up and then back down just to take out the garbage or talk to a neighbor. When we drive out we slide it half way then close the garage door and when we return it's already opened for us to drive back in. There are no motors to have to deal with to go bad and no remotes to lose. Ours "hangs" (slides) from the top track so any dirt in the bottom track is no problem because there are no bottom wheels to get jammed. We clean out the track every 6 months or so with a leaf blower. We've had it 5 years with zero problems and are still satisfied over our choice. YMMV of course. We got our from Michele's Hideaway Screens Sliding Garage Screen Doors | Michele's Hide-Away Screens

We have a power rollup screen now and we also going in and out offend because there so no service door attached to our garage. If we get 2 1/2 to 3 years out of a $1000 motor w/tax and install, we are lucky. BTW...... Micheleshindawayscreens are coming next week for a quote. |

We just installed sliders in October or November. We have a stretched garage with an 18' door that was being quoted way over our comfort zone on motorized screens.
We got prices for Sliders and it was very reasonable. The guy who did ours was named Rodney and he lives near Spanish Springs in the The Villages. We like the sliders. We can pop in and out of the garage without opening the whole garage up. We live South of 44 and the bugs can be bad. In fact, the Sumter Bug Truck just came through the neighborhood spraying (in February, mind you). We can go in and out quickly and keep bugs at bay. In short, we don't regret our decision. Quote:

Love ours. If we are home the garage door stays up all day. Mine have rollers on the bottom which is an easy replacement if one freezes up. It’s been almost six years and don’t recall who installed them. Pretty sure I am extending the life expectancy of the garage door opener

We used Michelles in Ocala. My original one of 15 years, the rollers on the bottom, even though replaced several times, were a mess. We invested 18 months ago a new one, wheels on the top so they dont get all the dirt etc… Great job, we love it, reasonable. I think it was like 1200 bucks…. +1 (352) 236-8869.

The first thing I did when we bought a house in Rio Ponderosa was to put the sliding screen doors away. I think they are a pain to use.

Our slider is 19 yrs old. The only maintenance was to replace the rollers on the bottom. Now it is time to rescreen. It is a good choice for the reasons posted.

I have two homes, one with the roll up, and one slider. We love the roll up. The slider was damaged when we bought the home last March. The screens were stacked in the garage. The bottom track is destroyed. It's noisy and unsettling to drive over. I had planned on removing the whole thing.
But having read the positive comments here, maybe I'll repair it.
