Default Garage Door Keypad Programming Question

We have 2 garage doors- one for the car, another for the golf cart. Both have electronic openers. Only one has a keypad attached to the outside. I programmed the keypad to operate the door where it is attached to the outside wall. Is there an operation that allows you to program a code to select and operate a 2nd door?

Thanks

Yes there is.
My son has a set-up like yours with two doors and has a single controller that is program with buttons #01 and #02 door from left to right.

He uses the zero before each numbered door.

You can have multiple codes in the outside remote so I programed one code for the main door and another code for the golf cart door. Works great for me.

Before you enter any codes, wipe out the old codes. Yes, the builder probably entered a generic code so they could get in and their subcontractors could get in. Many of our neighbors had the same code when we all moved in.

Our builder was nice enough to tell me of this 'builder code' and he advised us to clear all entries before adding our own. You do not need to actually know the builder code, just wipe out all entries. Your instructions will show you how to get rid of all the codes.

Do not use 0001 and 0002 for the codes. Use unique codes like 4057 and 6781 (etc)

wipe out all codes at the garage door opener itself. You don't know if any of the builders programmed these codes onto their own remotes to use at a later time. Then program each of the remotes, your car homeland buttons, external smart hubs to each of your garage door openers. Get a smart hub with a sensor for each garage door and program these so you can use your Apple Watch,iphones/iPads to open/close your garage doors and to check to see if your garage doors are closed remotely.

You should have been given an instruction sheet for your garage door openers & transmitters as part of your closing documents. Yes...the wireless keypad can control more than one door, but it has to be programmed to do so. The programming involves entering codes after pushing the "learn" button on the operator motor. Try a Google search for the brand/model keypad you have (if a new or newer home, probably a Linear brand). You can find the instructions and probably a YouTube video that will help.

Another good option to have is a MyQ device on the garage door(s). These will allow you to operate your doors with your phone, or any device that can access the internet. A MyQ device also allows you to sign up for Amazon Key Delivery, where your packages from Amazon will be placed in your garage by the driver. That service utilizes a one-time code, built into the package bar code, that the driver uses to open and close your garage door. The MyQ device is not expensive, about 30 bucks, and is very easy to install and configure. I find it very helpful to have packages placed in the garage, rather than left by the door for the porch pirates.

Yes the outside keypad can open both doors just program each with a unique code.
I just added 1 to the first code to open the golf cart door ( 1234 and 1235 ).

Also the best time to do this is when your street is dead. I did mine as cars were moving on my street and a neighbor must have pushed their remote close to my house as I was programming my door. My door was going up at random times. I reprogrammed my doors at 11pm and all was well.

I also added the MyQ garage door hub and it works great. I have the older black model and added an extra door sensor to operate the golf cart door. Best place to buy I have found is on Ebay.

On a related note...I had a new garage door installed in 2020, w/an outside keypad. The installer programmed the keypad to work with a certain 4-number code but it stopped working a few months down the road. The two remotes, both programmed with the same number, work fine.

Questions:

1) Is it possible to reprogram the keypad for the same (or different) code while not having to reprogram the remotes as well; and

2) How?

Thanx in advance....

Some unit have a maximum number of remotes that can all be added in total. I've seen numbers like 10. Not sure about the Linear models used by builders here.

From my Linear model... {my comments}

To Add or Remove a Remote Control
1 Press the operator’s LEARN button. {LEARN button in on the back of the motor unit.} The operator’s light and red light will flash once and turn on for about 15 seconds. A remote must be added or removed while the red light is still on.
2 Send a signal from a remote. The operator’s light and the red light will flash once if a remote was added, or the opener’s light and the red light will flash four times if a remote was removed.
3 Repeat Steps 1 & 2 for any additional remote controls.
{for keypad, enter digits, then the enter key}

To Remove All Remote Controls
1 Press and hold the operator’s LEARN button for ten seconds or more.
2 Release the LEARN button. The red light and operator’s light will blink three times signaling that all of the remotes in the operator’s memory were erased. The red light will turn off, then turn on for 15 seconds. A remote control can be entered during this
time using the steps above.

Testing
1 Before testing the remote control, straighten out the operator’s antenna wire so it points up. {or down}
2 Stand clear of the door, press the remote control’s button and verify that the operator starts. PRESS THE REMOTE CONTROL’S BUTTON AGAIN TO STOP THE DOOR MID-TRAVEL.

Default You only need one

I've had a key pad over over 15 years. Once I open a door I can enter the garage and use the wall unit if needed to open the second door. I don't even remember the code for the second door.
