Default Freedom Point?????

Anyone know if you can purchase a condo in TV; is that what Freedom Point has to offer(?) or is it just a nursing home, etc..
I also see another "apartment like" complex on 466A, just down from Buena Vista Blvd; any ideas if that is a purchase/rental/nursing arrangment.
Curious about what is available for the next chapter.... Regards, BJ

We are looking at both of these for my mother-in-law. Freedom Pointe is a buy-in, independent living condominium for people 65 and older. Sumter Place is also independent living and assisted living but it's more like apartments and no buy-in. Each place offers one meal per day (part of your monthly fees), recreation facilities and all that TV has to offer. We have an appointment to visit the two places in November. My mother-in-law is on a waiting list for Freedom Pointe as all two bedroom condos are full.

My mom is at Sumter Place. You get all three meals every day, there is a bistro with snacks available, there is nursing on site, there are doctors that come to see their own patients, they can run labs, they have a bus that takes people out, last Friday night 6 women went out with a staff to dinner and Lake Sumter Landing to listen to music. My mom LOVES, and I mean, LOVES Sumter Landing. She is happy every day, has made friends, is well cared for, enjoys the music they bring in and the events and goes to movie night every night there. They have studios, one and two bedrooms and are filling up fast. It is month to month. They have additional services you can pay for if you need them, shower assist, med management, etc. I highly recommend it. Also easy to get to by golf cart. We moved my mom in at the end of August in preparation for our move in early November. She went from living with us to living there...no wonder she is so happy, haha.

There are condos next to Spanish Springs Town Square. Call the Villages sales office.

Freedom Pointe is a continuing care retirement community. They offer the ability to purchase a condo with a buy-in. The buy-in covers you for future healthcare needs. Lets say you purchase a condo, then after living there for several years you become ill and need assistants. Your buy-in which is also called a lifecare contract, gives you the ability to move to there assisted living or nursing home at a discounted rate. Many people love these types of communities because of those benefits. Hope the information helps.

Is there anything that provides cost estimates? While the brochures make the facilities very appealing, it would be nice to know whether it is an option for someone with limited financial assets. I had heard numbers above 200K for buy-in, with a 1500 per month assessment for Freedom Point.

it hasn't been stated yet, but Freedom Point IS NOT a nursing home.

They do have other facilities for care of differing categories but has nothing to do with the Freedom Point condo/apartment.

If you have lived in an apartment building or a hotel like environment then you have an idea what it would be like living there.

If one has never lived in this type of environment, do your home work and understand what it is like to live in a "hotel" like venue. That you may have a parking space but it is 10+ minute walk away. Ditto for meals, etc.

Not saying any of the above is good or bad....just do your home work before you get star struck by a sales pitch.

Why not give the facility a call?
