Question Food Delivery?

Are food delivery services (such as Door Dash or Uber Eats) working now in the new areas south of 44 (for example, in Marsh Bend or DeLuna)? And if so, where (that is, what area // what restaurant) is the food being ordered/delivered from? It seems like a long way to come from Brownwood or Wildwood or Lake Deaton Plaza. Does the food take a long time to arrive? Overall, has the service been satisfactory? Thanks!

Enter your address in the DoorDash and it will tell you what restaurants are available, it shows you the estimated time to delivery

Not in Florida but not sure if distance matters. My daughter started delivering recently. Not sure if anyone has. She longs in when available to see if there are deliveries needed. From the house she got a job and it was 20 minutes from home to get the food and then 30 minutes from the restaurant to deliver. Not sure how long the food sat without a driver. In the end she got a $1.25 tip. She had a second delivery, no tip and called it a night. The company then sent her $12.00 for the night.

Might be better to pick it up yourself.

Default Shudder!

This whole concept always seemed weird to me. Way too many potential downsides. Unknown driver takes who knows how long to pickup then deliver. What may happen to food in transit ( let your mind go wild on this. Whatever you can think up probably has happened.)
Poor delivery person working for tips gets stiffed or, possibly, much worse. (again, let your mind go. Worst case scenarios have happened.)
Person waiting for a hot, fresh meal finally (hopefully) receives food from complete stranger. What happened to food in transit? Was it "sampled"? Tampered with? Exposed to contaminates of any kind? Too many undesirable things, imho. If I'm too lazy to go out, I'll just microwave a burrito.

consider yourself lucky if there's food delivery to you. there is VERY little south of 44,...for the moment. i predict as the area fills out, more businesses will come in & food options will increase. right now, pizza hut delivers to fenney rec., lol. my daughter waits for them there, then drives the goods home. i think dominoes MAY come out when they have the help to do so. publix is a skip & jump away, i depend on them a LOT.

you know, i read a report somewhere, (not sure if it's true) that meals were being partially consumed by the driver during the ride! 1 lady said she ordered 12 wings & got 8. another guy said his food was cold, after waiting almost an hour for his meal.

Heard of too many horror stories to think this is anything I want to be involved with in any way. Everything from food tampering and theft to robbery, abduction and worse.

Due to unfortunate circumstances we have been forced to rely on DoorDash for a lot of meals. Let me educate you on this subject. First of all, when you place the order, the tip is included in the charge, so I don't know how the delivery person is getting "stiffed". Secondly, you are notified through-out the process of when the order was received by the restaurant, when the driver arrives to pick it up (usually with-in minutes), when the food is ready, when the driver leaves the establishment with the food and you can watch the GPS screen showing where the driver is. You are constantly notified of the arrival time of your order. And the order is placed in containers, bags, etc., that are sealed. Either taped securely or stapled closed so you would know if the driver had done anything to attempt to open the bag, container.
And to their credit, if anything goes wrong with the process, DoorDash does their very best to compensate for your problem, either correcting it immediately with a re-delivery or crediting your account. And they send an immediate request for your response to their delivery, you can adjust the tip up or down immediately, depending on how you felt about the delivery of the food.
It is not the cheapest way to get your meals, but it is a life-saver for those of us who have no other choice. Please do not bash that, that you do not have any knowledge of.

Don’t use those services. Too expensive. Order from Kroger. They are much cheaper and the deliver in trucks with a fridge and freezer. Produce is very good too.

This statement reminds me of the Halloween urban myths about poison in candy and razor blades in apples. Another urban myth is the one about cats disappearing in the neighborhood of a newly opened Chinese restaurant.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to pass on unfounded rumors such as these.

The bit about poison, razor blades, needles and more in Halloween candy is definitely not a myth.
As to the cats going missing when Chinese restaurant opens, maybe not in this country.

First, did you read post #3? Daughter started job as delivery driver. Two separate deliveries that night. One took about 50minutes to an hour from order to delivery. Received $1.25 tip. Second delivery received no tip. I call that "stiffed". $12.00 received from the company. Drivers, like wait staff in restaurants, work for tips to supply much, if not most, of their income.
Second, sorry you must rely on delivery for your meals. I did not mean to single out any one company, just noting that there are plenty of documented cases show that tampering has taken place. Also plenty of cases of various crimes related to delivery businesses from theft, robbery, abduction, etc.
Thank you for pointing out to me that I did name Doordash. I intended to use them as a generic term (like Kleenex) for a food delivery service rather than as a singular entity.
Obviously, you are very well informed on how DoorDash operates in this area and I bow to your superior knowledge and experience. I do, however, stand by my opinion of the food delivery services, in general, based on the documented evidence.

Plenty of hidden camer evidence as well as admissions by perpetrators when confronted.
