Default Fish Market In Brownswood

Has anyone had any experience with the quality of fish that is sold at the Saturday morning farmers market in Brownswood.

I bought two lobster tails there last week. I have not eaten them, but was happy with the set-up. Nice lady with young boy selling, how to cook info and a chill bag with some kind of freezer pack to keep items cold. The lady wanted me to be happy and come back. She succeeded!

The vendor has changed and the current one has not connection to the previous. We have purchased from both the previous and the new and the current woman is an improvement. Compared to Lighthouse, we feel that the quality is pretty much equal with the real difference being that they have different varieties to chose from and that the BW vendor is all frozen whereas Lighthouse is mostly fresh. We would have no hesitation to buy from either of them as we haven't been disappointed with any purchases that we've made so far!

"The Lighthouse" is a vendor under a tent at the fruit stand east of Hampton Inn on 466. He's only there weekends usually after 11am or thereabouts.

If you have something in particular that you're looking for, you can always try calling Danny in advance to see if he will have it or can get it and establish a day and time you can pick it up

He also has a sheet listing the fish he usually has available, and if I can find it I'll scan and post it later on this thread.

Default Big Difference Between The Two

The vendor at the farmer's market sells a lot of frozen fish. The fish at Lighthouse Market on 466--it's east of the Santa Fe Shops, next to the fruit stand--is almost all fresh fish. He has a few frozen items, lobster tails and his wife's fantastic key lime pie, but all of his fileted fish is fresh usually only a day or two from the ocean.

I've been buying from Danny at Lighthouse since he opened the business there and have never been disappointed. He has varieties that no one else has because the fishing boats, and in the case of a few varieties the spearfishermen, pretty much work just for him. He has a large shop in Lake Mary, so the weekend offering here is not his primary business.

Here attached is the list in PDF format that I referred to above. We obtained the list some time ago, so the items and prices might have changed since.

We have bought from Danny at Lighthouse for 2 years and never been disapointed. He knows a lot about his product. His Lake Mary shop is much larger. Knows his fish.

Maybe, but sure beats going out and trying to catch your own! If it's fresh fish, it's worth it. I don't know of any other place which is closer.

IMHO, you can't beat fresh Florida fish.

So, what's the difference between Brownwood frozen and Publix?
