Default Fascinating story on Schwartz/Morse and the history of The Villages

Ran across this story on the internet about the history of The Villages and found it very interesting. The domain is:

THE VILLAGES – HAROLD SCHWARTZ & SON, H GARY MORSE | ByDuncan.com.

I hope this link works but I am technically challenged. If it doesnt work, can some one create a link, it would be appreciated. I am sure newer Village residents will find this fascinating, maybe some of the older ones too.

You have to hand it to the family. PERSISTENCE. TV evolved from entrepreneurial efforts that appeared to have started in the 1940s. Very industrious family. Would like to know more about Richard. It's an interesting twist in an otherwise whole family affair.

I have read a lot of articles concerning the Morse family and how TV was developed. This article is factual.

I am profoundly grateful of the Schwarz/Morse vision of this retirement community.

It's so easy for people to knock the Morse family but where were you when TV, was nothing but a cow pasture? It's easy for some people to knock the developers after they have seen the final product but it took a lot of nerve/vision, to build this paradise.

Some people will say it's gotten too big. I for one would never deny someone access to TV. It's heaven on earth. IMHO

No quarrel with the history of the Morse family. Only thing I can add is that in 22 years here, Harold was the only family member who ventured out in the community to meet the residents. He was a very personable guy who I talked to many times inThe mid to late 90s. Sorry but can't say the same about any of his heirs, living or dead. The last person in the family who gave a crap about the residents was Harold. The rest are unscrupulous money grubbers!.

Thank you for the link, OP. Although I had read most of this before I enjoyed some photos I had not seen before.

My wife and I met Harold Schwartz on our first visit to The Villages. He was "hanging" in the Sales Office at Spanish Springs. He came over to welcome us and ask if we were being helped. We were waiting to see a Salesperson. Very personable and a real gentlemen. Sorry we never met Gary Morse.

OP, good article. Another place to get a bit of family and TV history is the Rohan Regional center at Morse and Rt. 44. If you haven't been there yet, and you enjoy history, you should take a couple of hours and go.
