Default Errand/transportation service in The Villages

I will be moving to The Villages this Spring and I don't drive. I currently have friends and family nearby to take me where I need to go. I am not comfortable using Lyft or Uber so I am looking for recommendations for a person (or firm) to run simple errands and provide occasional transportation as needed. These include trips to medical and personal appointments (like my hairstylist and quick shopping). Is there a shuttle service within The Villages? I'm finding I don't qualify for some services, since I don't have mobility issues, don't have a medical need or don't meet the age requirement for a "senior".

Many medical plans provide a certain amount of free Uber or Lyft rides. Nothing to fear

Said she is not comfortable with uber or lyft. I am not aware of any other. Kind of bus or taxi service in TV, so, "Sorry" OP but I am afraid your transportation choices may be limited. Hopefully others will have more solutions for you.

OP, how do you feel about being able to access your services via golf cart, or are you uncomfortable driving one of those also? Just thinking of options. Bicycle (like an E-bike, battery/motor assisted)?

Are you sure you are moving into the right type of environment? It's pretty much (other than continually asking friends or neighbors or uber/lyft which you reject) a "self-sufficient" area where you mostly need to be able to supply your own transportation, like living in any towns neighborhood. Maybe a "senior living" type of place where some have daily buses into "town." I have seen those buses around on occasion at the shopping areas. You should really do your due diligence before making the big move to see if what is here for you that will meet your lifestyle's needs. Of course there are golf carts. Have you considered that?

I totally agree with EDJNJ's post. There is no real transportation here, certainly not the kind of transportation where you could stand at a bus stop and wait for a bus to come along. I think you ned to think long and hard before moving here. Being unable to drive in TV is a huge problem.

I would like to add that I think the Village ads stress TV as for Active Adults.

You can live here without a car if you live near Lake Sumter or Spanish Springs. There are grocery stores, drug stores, and shops within walking distance - which I define as under a mile. Also, many stores such as Walmart and Amazon deliver. I am not sure about how many doctors and how many hair dressers are within walking distance.

You need to move to another place that has public transportation. You are making a seriously wrong decision.

It is against everything I believe in to rely on family and friends to provide my transportation. I would not be able to live in The Villages if I did not drive a car or a golf cart and not comfortable with Uber or Lyft. But that is just me.

Seriously lacking. Something the developer as well as county needs to address. Lake county does it much better with real bus services

Check with your county transit authority. They have shuttle buses for a very low cost. I understand that for some strange reason they are prohibited from advertising in the villages.
